Chug On Up To Georgetown To See The Most Fun Model Train

The most fun model train is currently on display in Georgetown! Red Poppy Garden Railroad not only features a fantastic model train but it runs around a replica of the Williamson County Courthouse and more Georgetown landmarks and businesses. The display is located at Mulligan’s Restaurant in Sun City for residents and all guests to enjoy!

The unique experience was created by Sun City’s Radio Control Modelers Club, a 250-member group composed of hobbyists and retired professionals who volunteer their expertise. According to this Community Impact article, the 3,800-square-foot Georgetown is meant to be set in the mid-20th century. In addition to the town square, there’s Wolf Ranch, a diner, drive-in movie theater, live concert, and there’s even a burning house to keep the fire department on their toes. But that’s not all. Audio boxes along the display play sounds to accompany all the action. There’s even a Batcave complete with a bat signal that viewers can activate.

Here’s a peek at what you can expect!

You’ll find the Red Poppy Garden Railroad behind Mulligan’s in Sun City (150 Dove Hollow Trail, Georgetown). The display is free, but you can drop donations in a box to help keep the train up and running.
