The US is home to some of the world’s best cities. Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, LA, and, of course, Austin. Everyone has their own personal favorite, but Austin is usually near the top of the list. With a population of nearly one million, Austin is a big city — and it has lot to offer. Here’s a closer look at some of the great things you can do and why it’s a favorite destination for many traveling to the US.
1. Zilker Park
Zilker Park is stunningly beautiful and is one of the top tourist spots in Austin.
Here, there’s a range of outdoor activities, such as swimming or walking about the botanical garden. On top of this, you can also go to the ACL Festival, which is an annual music festival that takes place every October. If this is something you’d be interested in, make sure to book your tickets ahead of time.
2. The LBJ Presidential Library
Do you love history and books? If so, you should definitely go and check out the LBJ Presidential Library. It’s $3 to $13 to get inside, but the money is more than worth it for the experience you get in return. Plus, outside of the library is a stunning water fountain that you can take selfies at.
3. Waterloo Records
Austin has a very popular music scene, so it’s hardly surprising that thousands of people go to its flagship record store – Waterloo Records – every single month.
Here, you can browse both new and vintage records to satisfy your music tastes. Plus, if you’re lucky, you’ll visit when there’s an in-store performance taking place, which will usually be local artists from Austin.
4. Amazing Nightlife
The nightlife scene in Austin is fantastic. You can go to fancy bars, expensive restaurants, and even experience the ‘Austin Pub Crawl’, which is great for those beer fans out there. Whatever you decide to do at nighttime in Austin, you’re going to have a blast.
Sadly, the only downside is that Austin doesn’t have any casinos. Unlike Las Vegas, it’s completely casino-free. So, if you were heading to Austin to hit up some casinos, you’re going to be disappointed. There is a fun solution, though; you can always go on a road trip to Oklahoma or Louisiana, which aren’t that far away. If you’re heading into the States for a Texas visit, then why not spend the journey with some online blackjack and get your fill before landing? Whenever you go to Austin, it’s recommended that you check the Paramount Theatre schedule ahead of time so that you can plan which performances or movies you want to go and see there.
