There is a new exhibition in town, featuring original artwork and posters inspired by two of Cartoon Network’s most popular comedy series, Adventure Time and Regular Show. You can find the works of art on display at Mondo Gallery, the Alamo Drafthouse’s collectible art boutique on Guadalupe.
My ten-year-old cartoon enthusiast and I headed over there yesterday to check it out. As we entered the gallery, he exclaimed, “Sweet!” which is probably endorsement enough, right?
Mondo is an intimate space, so exploring the featured collection is quick work. Nevertheless, my son inspected each and every one of the pieces, created by 35 talented artists. He thoroughly enjoyed the imaginative journey through the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo.
Prints from the show are available to purchase at the gallery, or online, starting at $40. We opted instead to buy a $10 Adventure Time comic, which Mondo also sells.
Mondo Gallery is open from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. Admission is free. The Adventure Time and Regular Show artwork will be on display through July 20, 2013.
After a visit to the gallery, you may like to pay a visit to Austin Books & Comics on Lamar, to load up on even more Adventure Time comics! (It would be kind of you to not point out that I always end up spending money on my free outings.)
Plus, you can see The Hulk… which has nothing to do with Adventure Time or Regular Show, but is still pretty cool.
