A Day of Family Fun at Austin’s Park n Pizza

To highlight the special offer Austin’s Park n Pizza created just for Free Fun in Austin readers – where you can get a free $20 Fun Card with every purchase of a Full Park Pass – we sent local children’s author, photographer and homeschooler Jessica Monnich, and her family, to spend a day at the Park! Read about their adventure below.

We arrived at Austin’s Park n Pizza on Saturday at noon, on the verge of being hangry, so we decided to eat right away.

I am here to tell you, Austin’s Park has made some BIG changes to their food! They have over 40 salad bar options to choose from, and a ton of different dressings, including a house-made jalepeno ranch! They now have gluten free pizza upon request and it is great; even my picky toddler chowed down! The manager was telling me that they are now buying ingredients that are much higher quality than before and you can tell! They are also making a lot of items on their menu in-house. My husband even commented on how much better the food was. They have also added a taco bar with rice and beans, and baked potatoes, for anyone not in the mood for pizza.

Kids must be 36″ tall to ride the kiddie rides, so keep that in mind if you have little ones. Our toddler was 3″ shy, so she had to watch her big sister enjoy all the outdoor fun, longingly, from a distance.

After awhile of watching her big sister ride alone, my husband Daniel took our toddler inside to distract her. We soon joined them and tried the many new, interactive games. When we spoke to the manager, he told us they are excited that the new (local!) owners are investing in continually improving the park by adding new attractions.

Another thing that I thought was brilliant, and the girls loved, was the “credit card” system for playing games. When you walk up to a game like the one below it shows you how much it costs to play the game. Every time you swipe your Fun Card, it shows your balance. The Fun Card also keeps track of your tickets so you don’t have a trillion tickets to try to fold and keep up with.

After playing a bunch of games, we walked out with vampire teeth, gummy bears, a gummy “hamburger”, and a plastic hand clapper as our prizes. But the greatest prize of all was getting to spend time with each other as a family!

Free Fun in Austin readers can get a FREE $20 Fun Card with every purchase of a Full Park Pass! Visit the Austin’s Park website and enter the promo code ffafree to purchase this deal.  Fun Cards can be used for games in the 16,000-square-foot arcade and for the batting cages. For more information on this promotion, head over here.
