This is absolutely terrifying.
Check out what happened to a highway overpass that happened to be in the way of the Blanco River when it decided to swell 26 feet in a single hour over the weekend. Note: This did not happen Monday, when we got the worst of the rains. This happened over the weekend.
This video was shot from a drone carrying a GoPro. It shows what used to be Fischer Store Road’s bridge over the Blanco River near Wimberley, where at least 12 people are confirmed missing after the floods. About 350 homes were washed away in that community alone, according to CBS News, replaced by piles of debris some 20 feet high.
If this freaks you out, consider volunteering for the Red Cross of Central and South Texas. Thousands of people were displaced in our area over the last few days. They desperately need your help right now. Although we’ve got a break from the downpours today, forecasts say to expect more of these storms in the coming weeks. The sooner you can get trained as a Red Cross volunteer, the better off we’ll all be.
