Hometown Hero was started in 2015 by friends Lukas Gilkey and Lewis Hamer. As a US Coast Guard veteran, Gilkey saw the effects of trauma on his friends from other branches. He knew that for many vets, a charity or nonprofit might be their only lifeline. With their last few bucks, the duo started a business selling products to local shops. When Texas legalized hemp, they moved on to craft-quality CBD, Delta-8, and Select Spectrum products.
A portion of the proceeds from every product sold gets donated to a veterans charity. It has been that way from the beginning, and it will always be that way.

What is Delta-8?
Delta-8 is a form of tetrahydrocannabinol or simply “THC,” derived from the hemp plant. It has properties that are slightly different in chemical makeup from what is derived from the Marijuana plant (Delta-9 THC). As a result, Delta-8 THC products are much closer to the familiar compound known as CBD (the non-psychoactive part of Hemp and Marijuana).
