Pokémon Go madness is taking over our city more and more every day, and now we’ve discovered that we can blame this madness (and joy, frustration, car accidents, lost pounds, etc) on a former Longhorn.
The Texas Exes Facebook page today told the story of John Hanke, CEO of Pokémon Go creator Niantic, who was a Plan II student at UT from 1985-1989. It looks like he’s definitely putting that BA that he earned to good use.
So thanks, Mr. Hanke, for giving Austinites something to bond over besides our mutual love of tacos and Barton Springs. Just remember to stay safe out there, because apparently people are doing so many ill-conceived things to catch Pokémon that local police departments have issued warnings and tips on their social media.
