More than 1,800 museums across America will offer free admission to active military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense.
Here are the local participating Blue Star Museums, which invite military families to visit for free from Memorial Day to Labor Day in 2014:
- Blanton Museum of Art
- Bullock Texas State History Museum
- Elisabet Ney Studio and Museum – Always free.
- Goodwill Computer Museum – Always free.
- Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
- Neill-Cochran House Museum
- Texas Capitol Visitors Center – Always free.
- Texas Memorial Museum – Always free.
- Texas State Capitol – Always free.
- The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria – Under 18 and military can always visit for free.
- The Contemporary Austin at the Jones Center– Under 18 and military can always visit for free.
- The People’s Gallery at Austin City Hall – Always free.
- Thinkery – Free admission will be offered to the nation’s active duty military personnel and up to five family members from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2014.
