You know we’re all about free here at Free Fun in Austin. And just because Austin is in our name, it doesn’t mean we don’t include those areas outside the city limits. In fact, we love the areas outside the city limits. So, for those of you who live or like to explore in the surrounding areas, this one’s for you.
Here are our favorite 5 FREE Things To Do In Pflugerville!
1. Find Fun For Kids Of All Ages At Northeast Metropolitan Park
Northeast Metropolitan Park (15500 Sun Light Near Way, Pflugerville) is 349 acres of FREE fun! You’ll find various sports fields, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, BMX tracks, a splash pad, a skate park, and trails for biking, jogging, or walking.
2. Build Castles On The Beach At Lake Pflugerville
Lake Pflugerville (18216 Weiss Ln, Pflugerville. The parking lot is located just north of the intersection of Weiss Ln and Pflugerville Pkwy.) is one of the closest things we have to a real beach here in Austin. The “sand” is really just tiny pebbles, but you can still make a castle out of them! There are shaded picnic tables, restrooms, a pavilion, grills, and even a playground, so you could certainly spend an entire day there. The water isn’t deep as you enter, so it’s perfect for even the littlest swimmers. You can also hike a 3.1 mile trail or fish off of one of seven piers. If you’d like to spend a little money to enhance your time, you can even rent kayaks and head out onto the water. Wear your water shoes (those little pebbles can hurt sensitive feet!) and spend a day at this little beach.
3. Cool Off At Falcon Pointe Splash Park
Falcon Pointe Splash Park (1813 Tranquility Ln, Pflugerville) is FREE and open to the public, although it’s situated within the Falcon Pointe neighborhood. You can find restrooms and covered picnic tables, plus there’s a little playground to the right of the splash pad. This little park and splash pad make a great meeting spot for play dates and meeting new mom friends!

4. Celebrate At A Pfree Pfestival
Plugerville seems to have a festival for anything and everything and most of them are pfree (FREE)! Start the year off with a bang at the annual Pfreze Pflop, where you can join over a hundred other insane humans who voluntarily slide into the frigid waters of the Scott Mentzer Pool on New Year’s Day. All you need to bring is a canned food item to be donated to local food banks. During the summer, you can enjoy pfree Music in the Park, Movies in the Park, KIDFISH, and the Pfirecracker Pfestival. In the pfall, attend the Pfall Pfest Craft Show. And over the holidays, you can go to the Pfestival of Lights and Holiday Parade. Find a complete list of the city’s pfestivals (including those that aren’t free) here.
5. Play All Day At Pfluger Park
Pfluger Park (515 City Park Rd, Pflugerville) is a huge park and a fun way to spend an entire day. There’s a gazebo and playground area, hike and bike trails, a basketball court, and sand volleyball. My boys had fun collecting shells, making rock towers, and throwing rocks into the water down by Gilleland Creek.
