Welcome to fall! The cooler temps (in the mornings at least) and appearance of pumpkins is cause for celebration! Bring on the festivals. Here is a round-up of places where you can find corn mazes, hay rides, live music, and yummy treats in the Austin area for 2015. We will be adding to this list as time goes on, so keep checking back to see more festivals!

Fall Fun at Sweet Berry Farm (Marble Falls)
Harvest the fall fun at Sweet Berry Farm with corn mazes, a Berry Bounce, pumpkin painting, stuff your own scarecrow, hay rides, train rides, ice cream, and lots more. On weekends they will have face painting, horse rides, and more food.

Robinson Family Farm (Temple)
Here you will find various games and activities for those of all ages which include: hay rides, duck races, kiddie train, corn maze, hay maze, bounce houses, bean bag toss, football throw, ring toss and pumpkin sand art. They also offer free activities like horseshoes, corn hole, ladder golf, a corn pit and a large playground for your little ones to play. Individual and/or family photo mini sessions are available to capture your memories to last a lifetime with many photo sites to explore.

Barton Hill Farms Fall Festival and Go Horns Corn Maze (Bastrop)
The Fall Festival and Corn Maze is the perfect setting to let your kids enjoy true outdoor entertainment, including rides, games, a corn maze, pumpkin patch, local vendors and farm animals. They welcome large groups and school field trips.

Cross Plants and Produce (Kyle)
Stop by the Cross Plant and Produce Pumpkin Patch for Storytime, October 2, 3, 7, and 11. Enjoy some pumpkin stories and then paint some pumpkins, color and play! Bring a blanket to sit on and a picnic and don’t forget your cameras for taking adorable photos of your cuties at the patch!

Crowes Nest Farm’s Fall Family Fun Festival (Manor)
Every October, Crowe’s Nest Farm hosts Fall Fest, when they are open to the general public. It’s an opportunity to visit the farm and take part in all the activities that a tour group would, plus added attractions like sheep shearing, corn shucking, apple cider making, and live music. Many local vendors also come to sell their wares – everything from free range farm fresh chicken eggs, homemade bread, and honey to clothing items and more. Plus, there’s plenty of assorted food and beverage items. Check out the flyer for more activities!

Evergreen Farms Pumpkin Hunt (Elgin)
The Pumpkin Hunt is a family-friendly event where children of all ages can enjoy fall activities. All activities are ongoing throughout the day, allowing families to customize their experience at the farm. Pumpkins of all sizes will be available for purchase. The premier event, the Pumpkin Hunt, includes a wagon ride into the Christmas tree fields where mini pumpkins are hidden in the trees. After the Hunt, enjoy pumpkin decorating on the pavilion along with the other activities and games. Pumpkin hunt, maze, firetruck ride, train ride, face painting and more.

Silo Christmas Tree Farm (Temple)
Here you will find snow cones, train rides, maze, hay rides, bounce house, pumpkin painting, and pony rides. Pumpkins and treats are for sale. You can even make your own scarecrow!

Texas Big Worm Pumpkin Patch (Bertram)
Look for the Giant Chair and all the Pumpkins! Pumpkin Patch, Choose pumpkin from the field. Fun activities for all ages, including a pumpkin sling, corn fishing, hay rides, pumpkin painting, and a petting zoo.

Pecan Street Festival (Austin)
The Pecan Street Festival is one of the largest, and longest-running, arts/crafts and music festivals in the nation. It is a free two-day arts festival held twice yearly in downtown Austin’s Sixth Street Historic District. Taking place the first weekend in May and the last weekend in September, the juried festival attracts hundreds of local and national artisans offering original handcrafted creations in a variety of mediums, from metal, wood, fiber, clay, leather, glass and stone to repurposed materials of all kinds. The full lineup of more than 30 authors represents some of the most popular and critically acclaimed authors in the booming Young Adult genre. The keynote speaker is Emmy Award-winning actress and writer Sonia Manzano, best known for her role as “Maria” on the PBS series Sesame Street. Round Rock Chalk Walk is Round Rock Arts’ version of an Italian street painting festival. Artists are free to create, with chalk pastels, a picture on the pavement. Drawings are created in full view of the public, who are encouraged to interact with the artists as their amazing talents to create beautiful “murals” before their audience’s eyes. The fact that the illustrations disappear at the end of the day makes their beauty even more appealing. But Chalk Walk is more than lovely chalk designs. There are two stages, one focused on adults and the other on children and youth. Entertainment includes free theatrical and musical performances. Chalk walk has been moved to Centennial Plaza, a large plaza where all art, booths, and performances are within easy walking distance. There are two parking garages in the area as well, and plenty of on-street parking.

With more than 20 artists and Latin American groups, the Second Festival de las Artes Latinoamericanas Austin 2015 will take place at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center in October 2nd and 3rd of this year. México, Perú, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and El Salvador will be some of the countries that participate in this event. The Festival de las Artes Latinoamericanas Austin 2015 will bring a multicultural display of Cinematography, Theater, Literature, Music, Folklore, Graphic Arts (paintings & architecture), as well as gastronomic sampling for each country. This event is supported by more than 40 local business, who will exhibit their products and services during the festival. The festival is not only an invitation to familiarize with the most representative culture of each country, but it is also a creative event to showcase our local artists in the Austin community; they are the ones that bring life and color to our city. Last Straw Fest at the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum
The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum is launching its first annual community-wide event. Last Straw Fest creates an annual fall tradition in the heart of Austin and within the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum. Featuring Pumpkin-Carving (October 25), the Haunted Garden (October 30), Sculpted Scarecrows (November 1), Last Straw Fest is the premiere fall festival with something fun for everyone! The scarecrow sculptures will be created by local businesses. Last Straw Fest has three events. All ticket and RSVP links are on the website. Pumpkin Carving is free with RSVP. Celebrating their 11th year, the UMLAUF Pumpkin Carving Competition is an afternoon for families to sculpt their holiday pumpkins and participate in the prizes. Overseen by “Professor Pumpkin” from the Texas Society of Sculptors, this event features community judges who will choose the most amusing, spooky, artistic and lovable creations. Non-perishable items will be accepted in lieu of admission. This event benefits the Capital Area Food Bank along with pumpkins generously donated by Whole Foods Market.

Monster Concert has been a tradition at Austin High School since 1987. The cornerstone of this event is a concert that features orchestras from Vertical Team elementary and middle schools, as well as the various orchestras at Austin High School. In addition to concert performances in the AHS Performing Arts Center (PAC), the Monster Concert features a carnival with a variety of games and delicious food. In addition, during the weeks leading up to the Monster Concert, students and parents from the AHS orchestras build an incredible and very popular haunted house. Dia de los Muertos Procession and Festival (Round Rock)
Join the Williamson County Hispanic Heritage Committee, Round Rock Ballet Folklorico, City of Round Rock, Round Rock Arts and Univision for the third annual Dia de los Muertos procession and festival. Día de los Muertos is a traditional Mesoamerican holiday dedicated to the ancestors; it honors both death and the cycle of life. There will be crafts and activities for kids and art, craft and food vendors. San Antonio-based Las Monas Performance Group, which includes giant, interactive puppets, will also be at the event. Performers include Singer Nicole Reyes, Round Rock Ballet Folklorico, ballet folklorico groups from Round Rock High School, Stony Point High School and Cedar Ridge High School, Hopewell Middle School Mariachis, Folkloric Dance Collaborative and Latin Band Son de Rey.
