2014 Summer Fun at Laura’s Library

Westbank Library and Laura’s Library have enough fun planned in the coming months to fill those long, hot days of summer!  There is a variety of free entertainment scheduled, for babies to teens. All programs listed below will take place at Laura’s Library, located at 9411 Bee Cave Road.

MONDAYS

Lego Open Play
August 18th at 3pm; ages 3 & up
We’ll have Legos of all sorts ready for you to build & create.

Infant Storytime
10:30am; ages 0-1
Songs & stories for our youngest guests every week.

Hola Hola Spanish Camp
10:30am; for parents & children ages 0-5
Mondays, June 9th through August 4th
Join us for a fun, interactive way to teach your children Spanish, even if you don’t speak it yourself. Parents will learn to read a book to their child in Spanish & can take it home for Spanish reinforcement.

Crafty Crew
12:30pm; ages 4 & up
The first 30 children receive priority, but we’ll serve as many kids as possible.

Preschool Storytime

Come to our weekly storytime for preschoolers & enjoy the following special guests:

Teen Entrepreneur Collaboration
Noon; ages 13 & up
Teens with big ideas can come learn about creating a brand or product & selling it to the world as well as what goes into starting a business. This program is great for teens who already run their own business or social media account, & for those who aren’t yet, it’s a great opportunity to try out new ideas.

Ink Drinkers Book Club
2:30pm; for kids going into 4th through 7th grade but kids going into 3rd grade also welcome. Calling young bookworms! We have a summer’s worth of great books to read & discuss plus fun activities to go with them. Snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your lunch or a snack if you’d like!

Join us for a half hour of musical adventures in June & July. Listen to classics, play some pop, & even compose your own blues songs! The explorations are designed to introduce young musical minds to basic concepts, but quiet listeners young & old are always welcome.

Teen Lock-in
June 13th, 6-8:45pm; ages 12-17
Hey rockstar, come show off your skills (be they musical, comical, or other) at this summer’s lock-in! When the library closes, the Karaoke Café opens, serving coffeehouse snacks (sandwiches, veggies, decaf tea & coffee) while you enjoy the karaoke show. Be a judge or a contestant for an air guitar contest, & see how well you know music with Name That Tune game! Tasteful rocker costumes encouraged!
