There’s a brand new player in the art and music festival scene this year. Soon a quick trip to Liberty Hill will give guests (and residents) the chance to check out the Whimsy & Wonder that will come alive in this little town. For this special event Main Street will transform “into a wonderland that stirs the imagination and indulges the senses at every turn.” Downtown businesses will turn into art galleries full of work from local artists, live music, and live art demos.
Whimsy & Wonder, The Liberty Hill Interactive Art & Music Experience will be held on May 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Liberty Hill. The whimsy and the wonder come in to the event in a variety of ways, including food and wine served by aerial bartenders, living tables, and a live champagne dress.
Outside, Main Street will be a true spectacle, filled with performers, stilt walkers, local artisans, a magician, a caricature artist, and more. Live art performances will be scattered throughout the event, including a live body painter, sidewalk chalk artists, and more. Children will have the chance to really let their imaginations go wild at the Imagination Garden full of live shows, interactive art exhibits, and craft booths.
“Liberty Hill has a rich tradition of celebrating the arts that started more than 40 years ago when sculptors came from across the world to create magnificent pieces of art here. Over the years, our community known for its peaceful rural setting has continued to attract the most creative of artists, musicians and free thinkers, and we look for opportunities to celebrate and share their talents with our Central Texas neighbors,” said Liberty Hill Mayor Rick Hall.
There are a lot of really great things about this event, but probably the best part is that it’s all FREE! That’s admission and parking at no cost, giving visitors more money to spend on food vendors and art, if they so choose.
This one of a kind event should definitely not be missed by anyone in the Austin area — it’s a great chance to go explore and get to know some of the smaller communities that make up the Austin Area Metroplex and to see what makes them so special. For more information, visit LibertyHillFun.com.
Whimsy & Wonder is brought to the community by The City of Liberty Hill, and is co-sponsored by the Orchard Ridge community and The Liberty Hill Independent newspaper.
