August 1-5 from 9 a.m. to noon   |   The Khabele School, 801 Rio Grande St., Austin

Badgerdog Summer Book Crush

This year, young readers explore the novel “The Thing About Jellyfish” (a National Book Award finalist) by Ali Benjamin. Campers read the novel before the program begins, then spend five days with a professional writer taking the story apart, playing around in its pages, and creating new work based on the book. The program is designed to foster close reading skills, critical thinking, and creativity. For rising 4th-6th graders, August 1-5 from 9 a.m. to noon at The Khabele School (801 Rio Grande St.). Registration fee: $150.

For more information and to register, visit the Badgerdog Summer Book Crush website.

You get to choose at least three of these recommended books and up to three books of your own choosing –for a total of six great books– to read over the summer. Click on the following links to see the complete list of summer reading picks for your age group.
