Austin’s favorite director has finally come home from New Mexico, where he recently moved production of the El Rey TV Series “From Dusk Till Dawn” due to Texas’ film incentive budget cuts. And as is typical when he films in and around his home of Austin, he’s looking for extras for what is likely to be one of his biggest films to date.
Alita: Battle Angel is a sci fi cyborg film described as an action adventure and sci fi romance. It not only has Rodriguez attached to direct it, but also lists James Cameron as one of its screenwriters. This duo should certainly make for an interesting pairing, combining grit with science fiction. The film is based on Gunnm (“gun dream”), a manga series created by Yukito Kishiro. Actors attached to the film include Christoph Waltz and Mahershala Ali, with Rosa Salazar playing the title character.
The extras that the casting team is currently looking for includes a good mix of all ethnicities (especially Hispanic, Asian, and African-American) and all ages and all types. The film is set in 26th century South America. Roles include street vendors and pedestrians that you might see in Panama. Tough, muscular factory workers, tough guy bounty hunters, and cool hipsters with a punk edge to them will all make up the background of this film. In general, the life in this future world is full of all types of hard-working, but happy people.

When submitting please include name, age, phone #, location (Austin?), height/weight and attach plenty of clear, well-lit, high resolution current photos both close up AND full length.

IMPORTANT: MUST be Texas resident w/ valid Texas ID who lives in (or at least close nearby) to Austin, TX since shoots days can change at the last minute and call times are likely very early or late night. **Please don’t submit if you’re not local to the area or nearby.**
NOTE: When working on film, all electronic devices, including phones, will be collected for the entirety of the shoot day. Access likely limited to only one phone check in a 12 hour time period. Anyone uncomfortable with giving up electronic devices should not apply.
Filming recently started and will continue until February, but you should definitely submit your information for the casting call as early as possible. Alita: Battle Angel is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2018.
