Drinking for a good cause is basically the best type of drinking there is, and we’re happy to announce that you now have permission to indulge for the entire month of February, because you’re doing it for a great reason. This month, a partnership between Amplify Austin and Tito’s Vodka makes happy hour even happier — and more helpful.
This is the fifth year of Amplify Austin, a citywide, online effort to fundraise for over 700 Central Texas nonprofits. The partnership between I Live Here, I Give Here, the agency that hosts Amplify Austin, and Tito’s vodka is not a new one, but rather one that grows stronger and stronger every year. In honor of this continued partnership and to celebrate their 20th anniversary, Tito’s Handmade Vodka will be matching up to $10,000 dollars for the Amplify Stretch Fund, which is a fund that is spread evenly on a pro-rated level to all 700+ participating nonprofits. The more funds that these nonprofits raise on their own, the larger the portion of the Stretch Fund they receive.
Beginning February 1 through Tuesday, February 28, participating restaurants and bars across the area will be donating $1 per Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktail(s) poured, with Tito’s matching that dollar, for a total of up to $20,000 in donations. These participants include but are not limited to the following locations:
- FoxHole Culinary Tavern
- Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen (at Downtown location only)
- Lustre Pearl East
- Mohawk Austin
- Moontower Saloon
- Reale’s Italian Café
- Red Shed Tavern
- Spider House Café & Ballroom
- Tap 24
- Third Base (at all 3 Austin locations)
- Trackside
- Waterloo Icehouse (at 360/Capital of Texas Highway location only)
- Zelicks Icehouse (in San Marcos)
Not a big drinker, but still want to get in on the giving a little early? Austin-based ticket broker, TicketCity, just announced that it will match donations of $1 for every order (including all U.S. shows) on their website up to $10,000 from 8 a.m. on Monday, 2/27 until 6 p.m. Friday, 3/3.
Stay tuned for more updates about Amplify Austin, but in the meantime be sure to write March 2-3 on your calendars and to earmark at least a few bucks for your favorite local charity.
