SXSW is nearly upon us! And there are so many FREE shows to enjoy that it’s mind-boggling. Where do you even start to find out about the bands, the day parties, and all the free and awesome fun to be had in Austin? Why — Free Fun in Austin, of course! As always, we’ve got you covered. Topping our list of don’t-miss SXSW events? Three days of charity beneficiary concert events at Auditorium Shores.
Note that the venue at 800 Riverside Drive, formerly known as the Auditorium Shores stage, is now known as the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake. This is SXSW’s largest stage, which will see more than 50,000 attendees over the course of this three-day event, and it’s an all-ages venue.
From Thursday, March 17, through Saturday, March 19, 2016, the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake is home to a charity beneficiary concert event series, which is free to the public with a SXSW Guest Pass. Learn more here about the Guest Pass, which will get you into lots of awesome SXSW free events, and then get your Guest Pass here. (Note that SXSW Badge and Wristband holders do NOT need a Guest Pass to attend the concerts at Auditorium Shores.)
While the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake is an all-ages venue, no outside food or drinks are allowed except those made only for consumption by children under 5 years of age. Similarly, no coolers, pets (other than guide animals), glass, beach umbrellas, chairs, tents or weapons are allowed on the premises. Personal umbrellas, under 17″ in diameter, are allowed.
So pack up your kids, your juice boxes, your toddler fruit pouches and your mini-umbrellas, and get outside for some music fun! Oh, and don’t forget the sunscreen!
