Classical Music for the World presents a cello concert, “Romantic…Posts,” featuring Italian Cellist Francesco Mastromatteo and special guest, pianist Michael Schneider on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 7 p.m. at All Faiths Chapel. The concert is part of Classical Music for the World’s Spring 2014 concert series.
Mastromatteo has been performing throughout Europe since his graduation from the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music in May 2012. He received a Doctor of Music Arts degree in cello performance from UT-Austin. Mr. Mastromatteo was the Resident Cellist at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and artistic director of Spring of Harmony concert series from 2007-2011. Mr. Mastromatteo also has served as artistic director for festivals and concert series for Associazione Amici della Musica “G. Paisiello” in Lucera, Italy and Classical Music for the World, a non-profit in Austin.
Pianist Michael Schneider has performed and competed internationally, including a performance of Franz Liszt’s “Dante Sonata” at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., for the American Liszt Society Annual Festival. He has soloed with numerous symphonies. He holds degrees from the University of North Texas, Cleveland Institute of Music and University of Texas.
“Romantic…Posts” is the journey: one cello alone, facing the most intimate reasons of strong emotions, dramas, joys, excitement, sadness, and renewed hope. All of this after Romanticism, or what history tells us to be “the Romantic Age.” But composers and art never cease to be romantic, never stops the search for the most intimate truths of life, the kaleidoscope of human feelings, and the endless questions of existence. There are new languages, there is music that is post-romantic because of needed label and because of history. But the human heart still searches for love and lives in it through unexpected colors, unimaginable sounds, or just a cello… alone.
Classical Music for the World believes in bringing beautiful music to everyone. The non-profit organization does not charge admission at any of their concerts, but gratefully accept donations at the door. These “free will offerings” are used to assist with travel and production costs.
