**Explore the Wonders of Pecan Spring Karst Preserve – Celebrate 25 Years of Conservation!**
Located at the gateway to the Texas Hill Country, Pecan Springs Karst Preserve is a stunning ecologically-sensitive area that has been transformed from a cattle ranch into a sanctuary for diverse plant and wildlife. This beautiful preserve enhances our understanding of sustainable land management practices and showcases the importance of conservation efforts in our region.
**Self-Guided Exploration:**
The gates will open for self-guided exploration from 10 AM to 5 PM. Feel free to arrive anytime during the day, but please plan to spend at least two hours enjoying the preserve. This particular event is for the UV walk which starts at 5 pm. Discover marked trails that lead you to the picturesque Pecan Springs and Elm Bat Cave, offering a scenic round-trip of about 3 miles.
**Evening Hike and Exploration (5 PM – 8 PM):** Experience the magic of the preserve after dark! Join us for a bat walk with **Bat Conservation International**, a UV night hike with **Central Texas Mycology**, and mothing with Texas Master Naturalist **Jack Cochran**. Don’t miss this unique chance to discover the nocturnal wonders of the preserve!
**Important Information:**
Please note that the preserve is unimproved with no amenities or drinking water sources. While portable toilets, handwashing stations, and water refilling stations will be available, there are no indoor facilities, so plan accordingly. Unfortunately, **pets are not permitted on the preserve.**
