Prepare to be amazed by one of the most mesmerizing astronomical events – a total eclipse, right here in Georgetown! We are among an elite group of locations in the country positioned directly in the path of totality. This means you’ll have the chance to witness daytime turn to night as the moon completely covers the sun. Such an opportunity is rare, with the next one not expected for another 20 years, making this event truly a special experience.
Southwestern University is thrilled to host the Total Eclipse Viewing Party on our scenic academic mall. Join from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 8 for an unforgettable day. Whether you’re an eclipse enthusiast, a curious observer, or just looking for a unique way to spend a day, there’s something for everyone.
Associate Professor of Physics Mark Bottorff will be on site with 10 telescopes to ensure an optimal viewing experience. Eclipse glasses will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
This Total Eclipse Viewing Party is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity to be part of a community coming together to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of our universe. Mark your calendars for April 8 and join us for a day of science, fun, and unforgettable memories. See you there!
