4 May @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Join the Central Texas Mycological Society’s Chris Garza for a short ecology and herb tour. During the tour you will learn how fungi is entangled in all aspects of our lives from soil and plants, to our own biomes. For example, did you know the flavor of mint comes from a type of fungi that protects it from insects and other parasitic fungi!? This event is also great for people that want to sharpen their plant and mushroom ID skills and learn about the medicinal benefits of plants and fungi. Recycled mushroom blocks for everyone that attends. This event is free with a ticket and open to all ages! Please bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

Naturalists at the Ney Series:
Learn more about the Ney’s unique historic landscape and entrench yourself in the environment with Naturalists at the Ney, a new series of monthly events on the museum’s grounds. In this thematic series of workshops, museum educators and community partnering organizations will lead guided explorations and art making activities on the first Saturday of April, May and June. We will learn about the colorful uses of plants, the hidden relationships under our feet, and the treasures used to create botanical art on the grounds around Elisabet Ney’s Formosa studio.
