Thanks to a variety of factors including funding and the time that it takes to send a cadet through training, many of the police forces in Central Texas are lagging behind in recruits as the area’s population explodes. On this week’s Crime Watch segment on Fox 7, they explore two different agencies that are helping to relieve some of Central Texas’ enforcement woes by putting citizens on patrol.
Although we’re probably not likely to see Police Academy‘s Steve Guttenberg or Bobcat Goldthwait roaming our city streets (or maybe we will, you never know in Central Texas), dedicated volunteers will help to make communities like Leander and Georgetown safer places to live.
