If there’s one thing we like here at Free Fun in Austin, it’s a good kid-friendly adventure. So imagine our delight when we heard about a brand new guide book for Austin families that highlights more than 100 of them! The author, local mama Annette Lucksinger, sent us an advance review copy of Exploring Austin with Kids! to read before the book’s March 1 release date and – spoiler alert – it’s pretty awesome.
After four years of dedicated exploring with her own two children, Annette has curated a list of the very best local family-friendly places to visit, plus 25 annual festivals and events. The Table of Contents arranges the entries by kids’ ages, interests, and locations in town, making it easy to search for activities your own children will enjoy. On each page, helpful icons also denote whether the activity is an educational experience, a museum, outdoor fun, a playground, a cultural experience, entertainment, shopping, or kid-approved food and treats.
Mark your calendar for the Exploring Austin with Kids book launch party at Hill’s Cafe on Sunday, March 2, 2014, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. There will be lots of fun family activities in addition to a book signing! A juggler and balloon twister will be performing and kids can enjoy tables of explorer crafts.
