Austin has a Batman connection that you may have never known about-and no, it’s not that Ben Affleck was in Dazed and Confused. On the eve of the premiere of Batman vs Superman, KUT looks back to 1966 when Batman: The Movie premiered at the Paramount Theater. Austin managed to snag the premiere of the film, the first film to come from the ABC television show, thanks to the Batboat. The maker of the boat, Glastron, was an Austin-based company that didn’t ask for payment, only that Austin get to host the movie premiere which happened to coincide with Aqua Fest.
This Texas Archive of the Moving Image footage of the press junket for the premiere is definitely worth the watch for any Batman fan. Check it out below.
