Two of Austin’s suburbs have been ranked as top places to raise a family in the nation and the very top places to raise a family in Texas. Not surprisingly, those two neighborhoods sit on the west side of Mopac in the affluent suburbs of Westlake Hills and Rollingwood.
Niche.com is a neighborhood, college, and school ranking website where users can “Discover the schools and neighborhoods that are right for you.” Its 2016 rankings find Austin at the top of its Texas list with Eanes ISD at the #1 spot for Best School Districts in Texas. Lake Travis High was the best in Texas for food based on student and parent surveys, as well as expenditures per student.
Affluent West Austin schools and neighborhoods aren’t the only ones to be highly ranked by Niche.com, though. The Liberal Arts & Science Academy sits at the top of Best Public High School in Texas and High Schools with the Best Academics in Texas (it was also ranked #3 for Best Teachers in Texas and #2 for College Readiness in Texas).
