I hope y’all are ready for action. Spring is humming along and we had another eclipse on April 4 during the full moon so as far as the Universe is concerned, it’s time to get hopping!

If we’re feeling stuck, or just unsure of what steps to take next, it always helps to step outside and clear your head. Luckily, it’s a beautiful time of year to be outside in Texas!

With that in mind, let’s take a look at this week’s city-wide tarot reading: The Wildflower.

This week's city-wide tarot readin'!

The healthiest plants make the best seeds.

Root: Coins

Roots are anchors, and at the root of our lives is the need for security. The Coins symbolize what we need to feel secure–whether it be money, health, family, career, or even a spiritual practice. If we’re feeling insecure, it’s because we’re not taking care of the basics. We have to constantly be on guard against rot because a solid foundation is what gives us the strength to push through obstacles. Though it may not always feel like it, challenges are gifts that help us become better people. If we are in a good place, it’s easier to welcome those lessons with a positive attitude.

Stem: Hermit

The stem is the backbone of the flower, and the Hermit lends a quiet strength to our lives. He’s been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, sold the T-shirt, and now finds happiness in a vow of silence and gardening at the monastery. It’s important to check in with ourselves and acknowledge our truth, especially if our truth is in flux. Stepping away from the dance floor gives us a chance to see the bigger picture and act with wisdom. Balancing the need to be outgoing with the need for introspection isn’t easy, but a fulfilling life needs a little of both.

Leaf: Tower

Leaves are the power generators, taking what the sun gives and transforming it into what the plant needs. The Tower is also about transformation, though it’s often of the catastrophic variety. This card has come up a lot recently, which isn’t surprising given the huge shifts we’re experiencing on all levels. If something is holding us back, we only have ourselves to blame. Shifting our perspective can expose what needs to go from our lives so that we can welcome something new. The things we’ve outgrown that we refuse to release will drag us down, so it’s vital that we do a little spring cleaning.

Flower: Swords

The Flower is where everything comes to a head, so to speak. The Swords govern our thoughts, and what we think influences how we act. Everything that has come before is preparation for the grand finale. If we want our flower to create viable seeds we must ensure it’s part of a healthy plant. Unleashing the power of our will requires the maturity to accept the outcome, for better or worse. Of course we want others to support what we say and do, but if there is resistance we should ask ourselves why. Is it because we’re telling the truth, or is it because we’re ignoring it?

Just a few weeks ago, the ground was a dull shade of meh. Now it’s carpeted with beautiful colors and we should all take some time to enjoy the show. The wildflowers only bloom once a year, but they always come back. They may not grow in the same places, and they may not be as plentiful, but we can always count on seeing a few. We should propagate our favorites, and keep our eyes open for new varieties. Nurturing the flowers that pop up in our lives means we’ll have plenty to admire in the future.
