Go Local’s discount card program has already served the Austin community for years, connecting shoppers with great discounts to their favorite stores since 2008. Now, Go Local has gotten into the business of doing good with their new Give Local program. The new program seamlessly allows Go Local’s 40,000 current cardholders to give to local charities just by using their cards at select local businesses.
The new platform will “further complement the company’s mission of supporting locally owned and operated businesses and initiatives.”
Flagship partners in the program include:
The ABGB: 5 percent of every purchase will be donated to the Hell Yes Projects, their community outreach program that supports various Austin charities including Housing Heroes, Save Our Springs Alliance, BE KIND and more.
Home Slice Pizza: Starting in July, Home Slice will donate 10 percent of food purchases to a local charity of the customer’s choice, decided in a ballot box system.
Justine’s Brasserie: Justine’s is still working on their participation levels, but they are expected to play a vital role in the new program.
In addition, many other local businesses are expected to join in on this innovative new program.
Go Local Austin co-owner Gabrielle Tuschak explains, “Our partner businesses decided charitable giving was a priority long before we started working together. While Give Local is a mechanism for giving, the actual donation is a collaboration between the business and their customer. It’s an opportunity for them to do good together and to connect on a deeper level.”
If you don’t already have a Go Local card that offers discounts at more than 400 local businesses, you can grab one on their website or at participating businesses.
