How does the old saying go — The family that runs together has pfun together? It’s something like that… The Pflugerville Pfun Run, Walk and Kids 1K is coming up on Sunday, May 17, 2015, and if you register by this Thursday, April 30, 2015, you can still take advantage of Early Bird pricing!
The current registration fee for the Pfun Run is $30, but that goes up to $35 on Friday, May 1. Families with younger kids should also note that the registration fee for kids ages 8 and under is just $15 for the Kids K, now through race day! Also, groups and teams of four or more adults will receive a discount of $3 per person — so register your family as a group (four or more people over 8 years old) by this Thursday, and the fee will be $27 apiece.
The 5K Pfun Run and Walk will begin at 8 AM on Sunday, May 17; it is a chip-timed race that winds through downtown Pflugerville (view the full course map here). The un-timed Kids’ K will begin at 9 AM, following the completion of the 5K. Be sure to register early to guarantee your race t-shirt! Your Pfun Run t-shirt will get you free admission to Deutschen Pfest, so wear it with pride!
Also, feel free to bring your pup along for the run — dogs and strollers are welcome at the Pfun Run!
Packet pickup will be at the Pflugerville Recreation Center (400 Immanuel Rd.) on Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15, from 8 AM to 8 PM.
If your family is looking for a different way to get involved with the Pfun Run, there are many volunteer opportunities available; for more information, call the Parks and Recreation Dept. at 512-990-6355 or email [email protected].
A little more about the Pfun Run and Deutschen Pfest:
The Pflugerville Pfun Run is part of Deutschen Pfest, Pflugerville’s most popular pfestival, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. The pfun happens Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17, in Pfluger Park, and features children’s games and activities (including a free children’s area located just outside the festival gates, with puppet shows and free bounce houses), shopping booths, a free parade on Saturday, live music, and so much more. (Note that this year’s carnival has been canceled due to rain.)
Entry fees to the Pfest are just $5 on Friday and Sunday, and $7 on Saturday (children 6 and under get in free). Check out the full live music and entertainment schedule for specific information on bands (Dale Watson headlines on Saturday!), the parade, Sunday’s Pfun Run, and all the weekend happenings. You can also download the Pfone App to have Deutschen Pfest information at your fingertips.
Deutschen Pfest parking information:
You can take a free shuttle from either Pflugerville High School or Brookhollow Elementary (see shuttle schedule here). There is also limited handicap parking at Pfluger Park.
