Woody Guthrie is known for his classic song, “This Land Is Your Land,” but he also wrote a significant amount of music for children. We will sing songs about waking up, washing up, cleaning up, riding in the car (“Riding in My Car”), doing a jig, exploring our fingers and toes (“Put Your Finger in the Air”)…all while learning the music of one of our country’s most influential folk musicians. Join us as we sing, dance and play along with the music of Woody Guthrie. This class has been developed with early childhood development in mind. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver to class. Click here to register now for Grow Big Songs.

A little more about Creative Action:
The mission of Creative Action is to spark and support the academic, social and emotional development of young people. Through interactive classroom performances, after-school arts residencies and community-based programs, Creative Action’s team of professional Teaching Artists inspire youth to be creative artists, courageous allies, critical thinkers and confident leaders in their community.
The Creative Action philosophy is that learning should be fun, colorful, engaging, hands-on and experiential. Education is a dynamic and reciprocal process where everyone, including the teacher, is learning together, and ideas and discussion flourish as we collectively develop knowledge.
At Creative Action, art is deemed essential to personal development in the 21st Century. The arts require imagination, vision, critical thinking and determination. Thus, engaging in the arts gives us opportunities to shape our own identities, empathize and connect with others, grow a deep interest in the world around us, and contribute to making the world a better place.
