The Bullock Museum and Great Promise for American Indians are pleased to host the 2nd Annual American Indian Heritage Day, a day celebrating the historic, cultural, and social contributions American Indian communities and leaders have made to Texas.

Program for School Groups and Museum Visitors
9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Explore portions of the museum’s permanent galleries that discuss American Indians in Texas and stop by several hands-on activity stations. Discover the diversity of native groups that have called Texas home and find out more about groups currently living in Texas. Learn more about cultural traditions including storytelling, clothing decoration, art creation, and food preparation.
Performances

Dancing and drumming performances by Great Promise for American Indians in the Museum lobby.
Public Celebration
7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.)
Celebrate the traditional and contemporary arts of Texas’s American Indian groups. This FREE public program will honor American Indians of yesterday and today, including an Entry of Nations, recognition of the holiday, and dancing and drumming performances.
Stations to learn more about traditional craft and foodways will be available both before and after the program. The exhibits will be closed at this time.
