Your Guide to Living in Pflugerville

Located just north of Austin is the suburb of Pflugerville (the P is silent!). Home to about 57,000 residents, this area is known for its beautiful trails, stunning lake, tons of shopping and restaurants, and affordable homes. The city is super involved with its residents, too, hosting parades, festivals, and more each month.

Here’s everything you need to know about living in Pflugerville.

Restaurants:

For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, check out Pflugerville Taco House. This small joint is cranking out big plates at a small price. For more upscale tacos and burritos, we recommend Huahuasco Grill. Lastly, El Rincon Mexican Restaurant has great margaritas with live music and a spacious patio.

Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue has our vote for the best BBQ in Pflugerville. While they serve the Texas favorites like brisket, sausage, and pork ribs, they’re also putting a new school twist on dishes like their Wasabi Coleslaw. For all things grilled plus seafood, head to FD’s Grillhouse. Enjoy a craft cocktail with the freshest grilled fish and homemade desserts. Our fave is the Key Lime Pie!

Rec’s Hushpuppie Heaven is a funky little spot with a small but tasty menu. Corndogs, sandwiches, and you guessed it, hushpuppies. If you’re looking for a lighter lunch option, Pita Shack serves plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. This family-owned and operated casual spot serves up delicious Mediterranean style food.

Bars and Drinks:

We’re big fans of the Growler Bar & Kitchen for their outstanding beer selection, plus pizza and other bar snacks. This pub is also kid-friendly with a handful of cool, retro arcade-style games. Red Rooster’s is that perfect bar if you’re looking for karaoke, bingo, or a bite to eat — they have it all! The bar features a fun, light up dance floor with bar eats to curb your late night munchies.

If you’re the type who loves to play pool, cornhole, or shuffleboard while out, we recommend Last Call or The Lone Star Bar.

Coffee Shops:

Looking to get your coffee fix or a quiet place to study and read? Our favorite coffee shops in Pflugerville are West Pecan Coffee + Beer, Lazydaze Pflugerville, and Dazzle Coffee.

Shopping:

To hit a bunch of stores, restaurants, and catch a movie, check out Stone Hill Town Center.

When shopping local, we love Ruffles & Rust or Cotone Clothing + Beauty Bar for women’s clothing, and Wink Boutique for gifts and more.

To shop local and get your groceries, head to the Pfarmer’s Market. Local vendors have the freshest produce, flowers, honey, and more.

Family-Friendly:

To cool off in the hot, Texas summer heat, take the family to Falcon Pointe Splash Park. This free splash area is great for younger kids. If you have older kiddos, Typhoon Texas features over 10,000 square feet of water activity with a giant wavepool!

We also love Austin’s Park N Pizza. This restaurant and bar offers everything: games, bowling, go karts, batting cages, and more.

Trails, Parks, and Green Spaces:

Pfluger Park is one of the largest parks in the area, featuring 30 acres of trails, play areas, picnicing spots, plus basketball and volleyball courts. Stoney Creek Park also offers tons of area to play, as well as a soccer field, disc golf course, and exercise equipment.

Lake Pflugerville Park has something for everyone! From fishing piers to kayaking to running trails, every member of the family can find their activity at this 180-acre reservoir.

Looking for a park to take your dog? Bohls Park and Stone Hill Park have good sized dog parks with plenty of space for your pup to run.

Housing Market:

Pflugerville is the ideal family-friendly suburb to live in if you’re looking to get away from the traffic and high housing prices of Austin proper. According to Area Vibes, the suburb is ranked in the 99th percentile of all cities across America with amazing school ratings.

With Pflugerville’s popularity growing, houses only stay on the market about thirty days. The average price of a game is $300,000 and is only going up. Public transportation isn’t used as much in Pflugerville as most residents drive to work, making commutes a little longer at rush hour times.
