Get Ready For the Downtown Austin Holiday Stroll

At the 2022 Austin Holiday Stroll presented by the Downtown Austin Alliance, community members will be able to give feedback on a new mural coming to Congress Avenue!

On Saturday, December 3 from 5 to 10 p.m., Austin Parks and Recreation’s Old Bakery and Emporium will be hosting the first public engagement event to get community feedback for a new mural. It will be located on the south-facing wall of the park at 1006 Congress Avenue.

Here’s How You Can Help Choose The Next Downtown Austin Mural!

Honoring the Swedish ‘Fika’ tradition, a cultural custom of sharing conversations and coffee, Austinites are invited to grab a hot chocolate and chat with local artist RichesArt. He will be projecting the vision onto the future mural wall. There will also be a spray paint canvas wall so you can experience the process of creating a mural.

The event will give community members the opportunity to provide feedback and share your vision via online polls, a life-sized timeline of the building’s history, and a downtown mural coloring book where you can draw and share your vision for the new mural.

This event will also include several fun and festive activities for the whole family like photo opportunities with Santa, an ornament decorating craft table, and a winter wonderland featuring igloos to explore.

The stroll will also feature more free family-friendly y’alliday cheer. A Holiday Sing-Along starts at 6 p.m. on the south lawn of the Capitol grounds. The tree lighting follows at 7 p.m. After the tree lighting, stroll Congress Avenue between 9th and 11th streets for shopping and free live music and entertainment for all ages.
