Another wonderful Austin weekend is here and there are so many great things to do in and around town! Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

  1. Kids Eat Free On Friday +Friday Forties
    Friday, January 31 | From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. | The Meteor, 2110 South Congress Avenue
    The perfect pairing for an easy date night! Every Friday, kids under 12 can order for free off of the children’s menu. Adults can purchase a bottle of wine to go for 40% off (children not required for this). 
  2. B.Y.O.V Bring Your Own Vinyl
    Friday, January 31 | From 7 to 10 p.m. | Celis Brewer, 10001 Metric Boulevard
    Monthly event – B.Y.O.V. – BRING YOUR OWN VINYL party. DJ Victis is spinning YOUR records. Or you could spin them yourself. Draft specials. Delicious food. Fun times hearing some nostalgic tunes.
  3. Moonlight Tower Run
    Saturday, February 1 | From 8 to 10 a.m. | Austin American-Statesman, 305 South Congress Avenue
    Austin 10K’r invites you to join them for a unique variety of fun running routes that will complement your Cap10K training. The Moonlight Tower Run is a creative 4 to 6-mile route that travels across the river into downtown to seek out two of only 16 remaining light towers. The Moonlight Towers were popularized in the 1993 movie ‘Dazed and Confused’ however; they’ve been a part of the Austin skyline since 1894. After the run you’ll be an expert in spotting these Texas historical landmarks. Enjoy mini moon pies, coffee, hot chocolate and other snacks when you finish. The Moonlight Tower Run will start and finish at the Austin American-Statesman.
  4. Austin Bakes For Australia
    Saturday, February 1 | From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m | Lustre Pearl, 94 Rainey Street
    Austin Bakes, the local baking group that raises funds for disaster relief, will be hosting their 10th bake sale in Austin on February 1st. The local volunteer group, who hosts citywide bake sale fundraisers, will raise funds for the Australian bushfires that have devastated the landscape, wildlife and homes of so many. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Australian Wildfires Relief Fund by GlobalGiving. Those interested in supporting the sale who cannot do so in person are encouraged to share information about it and donate online. Those interested in volunteering can do so at the Austin Bakes website.
  5. 13th Annual Puppy Bowl
    Saturday, February 1 | From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Austin Humane Society, 124 West Anderson Lane
    Are you ready for some football? Well, sure ya are. But are you ready for an epic day of delicious tailgate bites, MVPuppy races, Puppy Player predictions, Super Bowl Predictions, Pet Adoptions, and Puppy Bowl LIVE!  That’s right, puppies playing football. Your own dogs playing football, too. Yes, yes this is the best thing ever and fun for the whole family. You won’t wanna miss it. It kicks-off Saturday, February 1 at 11 a.m. at Austin Humane Society for tailgating fun, adorable adoptables, vendors, great eats, and drinks by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and New Belgium Brewery. Then take the party down the road to Yard Bar for Puppy Bowl LIVE! starting at 2 p.m.
  6. Sew Much Fun
    Saturday, February 1 | From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.| Austin Public Library – Ruiz Branch, 1600 Grove Boulevard
    Come make your own stuffed felt friend. They have all the materials you need to create dinosaurs, unicorns, stars, and more. Each session, you’ll get to work on a new project. All ages are welcome, just beware that needles will be used.
  7. Live at the Hive
    Saturday, February 1 | From 10 to 11 a.m. | The Hive Austin, 10415 Old Manchaca Road
    The Hive hosts live, free, family friendly events Saturday mornings. Featured live music acts start buzzing around 10 a.m. Enjoy $3 mimosas or get your caffeine buzz on, while the little ones zoom and fly around in the bounce hive and gated backyard play area. The Hive has something for everyone, so bring the whole family out for the perfect day of play!
  8. Austin Flea at Cosmic Coffee
    Saturday, February 1 | From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Cosmic Coffee Beer Garden, 121 Pickle Road
    They’re kicking off their first Saturdays Series at Cosmic just in time to get some Valentine’s shopping done! The Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin’s most amazing and talented vendors. Find one-of-a-kind gifts for Valentine’s or any occasion including jewelry, bath/body products, vintage, original artwork, paper goods, textiles and so much more. Entrance to the event is Free and open to all ages!
  9. Camping 101
    Saturday, February 1 | From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.| Whole Earth Provision Co. (all locations)
    The program begins at 10:30 a.m. on February 1 at ALL Whole Earth stores. The topics to be covered include: basic gear to get started, safety from predators and first aid, keeping yourself fed and hydrated, how to get a good night’s sleep, comfort for the less than enthused camper, and tips for enjoying your day in the outdoors! Anyone in attendance will receive a $10 Whole Earth coupon AND get entered into a drawing to win a WEPCo branded Yeti Rambler bottle! Our staff will provide camping checklists to take notes on, as well as Texas State Park Guides, WEPCo stickers and bags.
  10. H-E-B Free First Sunday: Deep in the Heart of STEM
    Sunday, February 2 | From 12 to 3 p.m. | Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 Congress Avenue
    Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day during H-E-B Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase artifacts from around the state. Dive into the heart of Texas with Girlstart in partnership with the Bullock Museum. Explore the connections between history and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through interactive demos and hands-on activities for kids of all ages.
