Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around town. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

  1. Santa’s Wonderland
    Friday through Sunday, November 22 through 24 | from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. | Bass Pro Shop, 200 Bass Pro Drive, Round Rock & Cabela’s, 15570 South Interstate 35 Frontage Road, Buda
    Santa’s Wonderland is the ultimate free family Christmas event. The magic returns to Bass Pro Shops and Austin-area families are invited to enjoy this enchanting Christmas village offering FREE 4×6 studio-quality photos with Santa and free family holiday activities including fun crafts and games. Features include rustic Christmas cabins, holiday characters and live elves set amongst a dazzling backdrop of snow-covered hills and illuminated Christmas trees. The Santa’s Wonderland Christmas village offers remote control trucks, laser/ foam toy arcade, Lincoln Logs building area and much more. Kids can also enjoy free crafts, coloring stations and write a letter to Santa.
  2. Tween and Teen Anime Club
    Friday, November 22 | from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. | APL Twin Oaks Branch, 1800 South Fifth Street

    Do you like reading manga or watching anime? Come meet other fans, talk manga, watch some anime, craft and have a snack! Recommended for ages 8-17 Anime of the month is: “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.”
  3. Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019) Free Outdoor Screening with Caravan of Wonder
    Friday, November 22 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Community Cinema & Amphitheater, 9301 Hog Eye Road

    Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Caravan Of Wonders invite you to a free movie night at Community First! Village. Caravan Of Wonders will be leading an interactive game for children before the movie starts! Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Come explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards only, cash no longer accepted). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  4. 14th Annual Christmas Bazaar
    Saturday, November 23 | from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. | West Oak Woods Baptist Church, 2900 West Slaughter Lane
    Join for the 14th Annual Christmas Bazaar, featuring a large variety of vendors, from Jewelry to Arts and Crafts. Start your Christmas shopping early to get Unique Gifts for all your loved ones. Be sure to bring your children to visit with Santa, get their picture made and make their own ornaments. Photos with Santa from 10 to 1. No need to stop for breakfast or lunch before coming, as we will have the “Money Pit BBQ” food truck on the premises all day. There will be many door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, so plenty of opportunites to win.
  5. 9th Annual Children in Nature’s Workshop
    Saturday, November 23 | from 12 to 4 p.m. | George Washington Carver Museum, 1165 Angelina Street
    The 9th Annual Children in Nature’s Workshop will be hosted at George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center on November 23 from 12PM-4PM.CINW seeks to share the sincerity of nature with the community at large, promote a healthy lifestyle, and creative expression. Our main cornerstones within our foundation are teaching Children, Families and Women and Men through Physical Health, Moral Health, Mental Health, Spiritual Health and Financial Health within physical and ongoing online workshops.Activities include kids yoga, capoeira, dance therapy, storytelling, martial arts, t-shirt printing and more.Complimentary veg-friendly fare provided by Wunderpilz, Me and The Bees, The Soup Peddler, JuiceLand, & Whole Foods.
  6. Fall Harvest Family Day
    Saturday, November 23 | from 1 to 4 p.m. | Elisabet Ney Museum, 304 East 4th Street
    Bring the whole family to celebrate autumn at the Fall Harvest Family Day! There will be a sapling give away from TreeFolks, games, art activities, a BOUNCY CASTLE!, music from the Grassy Boys, and the City of Austin Bookmobile will be parked out front! Come see what we’re doing with our site too! As always, admission is free!
  7. Tree Lighting Ceremony at Hill Country Galleria
    Saturday, November 23 | from 5 to 8 p.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Boulevard
    Hill Country Galleria will be hosting its annual Santa’s Arrival and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 23. The program begins at 6 p.m. where families can see Santa, help light the holiday tree and enjoy a special live music performance by Ingrid Michaelson. Following the Tree Lighting until January 1, the Galleria’s Holiday Village will have a light show from 5 to 10 p.m. every half hour. Arrive early to shop the Hill Country Galleria Village opening at 2 p.m.

    6 p.m. – Face painting & kids’ activities in the Central Plaza
    7 p.m. – Program begins with Santa’s Appearance & Tree Lighting

  8. Sunday Morning Math Group
    Sunday, November 24 | from 12 to 3 p.m. | Department of Mathematics, UT Austin, 1 University Station C1200, RLM 4.102
    The Sunday Morning Math Group is an outreach event targeted at 6th-12th graders which attempts to supplement math topics that aren’t often covered in traditional math classes. The SMMG will be in room 4.102 of Robert Lee Moore Hall (on UT’s campus) on Sunday November 24 from 12-2pm. UT Professor Dr. Ngoc Tran going to talk about the math behind neuroscience, learning about how scientists use math to “see” what’s going on inside our brains! Please note that this is a rescheduling of an earlier talk. The event is free, and there will be free bagels, free pastries, free coffee, free juice, and free street parking!
  9. November Austin Flea at Fareground
    Sunday, November 24 | from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Fareground at One Eleven, 111 Congress Avenue
    Start your Holiday Shopping during the 4th Sundays Flea at Fareground Market, a fabulous venue that hosts so many delicious eateries, and the Austin Flea on Sunday until 3 p.m.! The Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin’s most amazing and talented vendors. Find one-of-a-kind gifts anyone and any occasion with jewelry, bath/body products, vintage finds, original artwork, paper goods, textiles and so much more! Entrance to the event is Free and open to all ages!
  10. We Are Blood Alamo Drafthouse Movie Pass Giveaway
    Sunday, November 24 | from 12 to 4 p.m. | Lakeline Mall, 11200 Lakeline Mall Drive
    Attention movie-goers! Starting November 25 through December 29, blood donors who donate, or attempt to donate to any We Are Blood fixed site or mobile drive will receive one Alamo Drafthouse movie pass. We Are Blood serves 10 counties in Central Texas and is the sole provider of blood to Central Texas hospitals.
