Another fantastic weekend is here, and it’s a three-day one for most. That’s why this week’s top 10 list includes Monday activities as well.

  1. Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel & Disney Free Art Show 
    Friday, May 25, through Sunday, May 27 | from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and  from 12 to 8 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday | Holiday Inn Austin Airport, 6711 East Ben White Blvd.
    Lucasfilm (Star Wars), Marvel, Disney International & Harry Potter Artist Christopher Clark is doing a national tour and will be in Austin painting live at a free art show to the public the weekend of May 25 through 27. Christopher is currently Lucasfilm’s #1 selling Fine Artist with George Lucas being one of his clients. Free Admission and attendees will receive a free 9″x11″ print. There will be a huge exhibit of Marvel, Harry Potter, Disney, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, & Game of Thrones artwork on display and available to purchase at affordable prices along with original oil on canvas paintings also available for purchase.Event is kid friendly and will include live music.
  2. Friday Night Flix A League of Their Own
    Friday, May 25 | from 5 to 11:45 p.m. | Lone Star Court, 10901 Domain Dr.
    Lone Star Court is relaunching their refreshing poptails just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. Poptail offerings include the Summer Sunset, Cherry Freeze and Pop of Sunshine. To celebrate the return of the boozy beverages, the property is hosting a poptail kickoff party on Friday, May 25 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with complimentary poptail sips and bites at the hotel’s on-site bar and restaurant, The Water Trough. At 8 p.m., guests can make their way to the outdoor pavilion for the hotel’s monthly Friday Night Flix film series where the ‘90s classic, A League of Their Own, will be shown on a large projector. The event is free and open to the public.
  3. The Incredibles Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, May 25 | from 8 to 11 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of The Incredibles. Get there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  4. Blair Woods Family Nature Day
    Saturday, May 26 | from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Blair Woods Sanctuary, 5401 E. MLK Jr. Blvd.
    Join Travis Audubon for a morning of bug-themed educational activities at Blair Woods Sanctuary, a natural oasis in east Austin! See real bugs from the Austin Zoo, lean how to identify different types of insects, go on guided walks, and partake in other fun and family-friendly activities! This event is free and open to the public.
  5. Kid’s Safe Beginner Kids Karate Workshop
    Saturday, May 26 | from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Premier Martial Arts Austin, 8400 Brodie Lane, Suite 102
    Premier Martial Arts will be hosting a FREE interactive Kid Safe Seminar where your children will have a blast and learn some great information that could save their life. They will be covering topics from stranger danger anti abduction, good drugs – bad drugs, the three lights of safety awareness and much more. There are a limited number of spaces available and they are on a first come first serve basis.
  6. East Austin Handmade Arts Market Presents Float the Moat!
    Saturday, May 26 | from 2 to 7 p.m. | NLand Surf Park, 4836 E Hwy 71, Del Valle
    Make the weekend Memorial as NLand Surf Park rolls out tubing! The East Austin Handmade Arts Market will be on hand to offer you a uniquely Austin shopping experience of fantastic hand-made items you didn’t know you couldn’t do without! Flamenco Symphony, Prog-Rock Extraordinaires Transit Method, The Stone Robots and The Zephyr Bellydancers will provide the entertainment. Show up early at 1 p.m. if you want to take a tube out in the lagoon. Free Admission! All Ages! They have an amazing craft brew pub and an excellent cafe! Plenty of FREE parking!
  7. Brunch and Shop Live

    Kick off your Sunday morning at 11 a.m. with yoga in the courtyard followed by a Cajun mimosa toast. Local vendors will be setup and ready for you to shop promptly at Noon. There will be a taste of New Orleans brunch buffet paired with a Cajun Bloody Mary. Throughout the day you will be entertained by various live activities including a kid’s fashion show, open mic hour and a jazz band jam session. Bring the whole family out to enjoy Sterling Events Live’s new Brunch & Shop Live experience.

    What’s better than biscuits? Brunch and banjos of course! Join us Sunday, May 27th for an afternoon of brunch, biscuits, beermosas, bluegrass and more. Jimjam’s Biscuits, headed up by Bufalina’s Sous Chef James Durham, will be serving up hot biscuits with your favorite brunch toppings. The Sieker Band will be providing the tunes and we’ll be slinging the beers. Get ready for a great afternoon with our family and yours.

    The LBJ Presidential Library will be offering free admission to all on Monday, May 28, 2018, in honor of Memorial Day. In addition to our permanent exhibitions, we invite visitors to experience our latest temporary exhibition—Get in the Game: The Fight for Equality in American SportsGet in the Game examines the intersection of social justice and sports in the United States, and celebrates athletes who have broken barriers and spoken out for equality, both on and off the playing field.
  10. Capitol Rotunda Community Sing
    Monday, May 28 | from 7 to 9 p.m. | Texas State Capitol, 1100 Congress Ave.
    Meet in the rotunda of the Texas State Capitol the first and last Monday of the month to sing wholeheartedly in the oral tradition of community singing. Simple yet powerful songs are taught call-and-response, creating an open and welcoming environment for all, regardless of singing experience or background. Gifts of the monetary persuasion are graciously accepted to help support our mutual flourishing but are by no means required. Your presence is the greatest gift at all.
