  1. Movie on the Trail – The Incredibles
    Friday, May 11 | at 7:45 p.m. | Hope Lutheran Church, 6414 North Hampton Dr.
    Watch The Incredibles and enjoy FREE hotdogs. Popcorn and drinks available. Bring lawn chairs and blanket and enjoy the movie.
  2. Pixar’s Up Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, May 11 | from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of  The Greatest Showman. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  3. Waller Creek Conservancy Field Day
    Saturday, May 12 | from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. | Palm Park, 711 E 3rd St.
    Waller Creek Conservancy, (WCC) a non-profit organization whose mission is to create and maintain a chain of urban parks around a restored Waller Creek, will host its first annual Field Day! This family-fun event will feature health-focused activities and games for people of all ages at Palm Park. With Field Day, WCC aims to demonstrate how parks play a vital role in the health of individuals and communities while raising awareness of Waller Creek’s continual transformation.
  4. Tech Connect Week: Sound Studio
    Saturday, May 12 | at 10:30 p.m. | Austin Public Library – Cepeda Branch, 651 N. Pleasant Valley Rd.
    Participants will learn how to create beats and foley, record and edit sounds, and turn their computer keyboard into a sound mixing board. Tech Connect is a week of programs aimed at introducing people of all ages and walks of life to new digital technology and skills. Free and open to the public.
  5. Perler Beads Saturdays
    Saturday, May 12 | from 12 to 4 p.m. | University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln.
    At this program , you’ll use Perler Beads to create mosaics and designs that can be transformed into pop art, pictures, coasters, magnets, and more. With a little bit of creativity, patience, and a regular household iron, Perler Beads are a fun way to get creative. They supply the beads and iron, you bring your patience for placing tiny beads on a template!
  6. Free LEGO Fun Day
    Saturday, May 12 | from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. | Circle C Community Center, 7817 La Crosse Ave.
    Children and parents are encouraged to come for a fun-filled day of LEGO building and discovery! The LEGO Robotics Fun days allow kids ages 4-104 to build and create different projects at any of the many LEGO fun activity stations.
  7. West at the Ney 2018!
    Saturday, May 12 | from 4 to 6 p.m. | Elizabeth Ney Museum, 304 E. 44th St.
    For 2018, the museum will feature “The Silent City’s Sound and Light Bath,” an extraordinary “Immersive Experience” installed in the museum’s Visiting Artists’ Gallery. Participants of all ages will be able to interact with hand-wired musical consoles to alter the experience of the room, in sound and light, emanating from hand-cast illuminated resin lamps hung from the ceiling. A truly unique exhibition experience, it will open on the afternoon of Friday May 11 and close on Sunday June 24. There will be a reception on Saturday May 12 from 4 to 6PM. This is the fifth in a series of intermedia installations by artists Lauren Gurgiolo, Wendy Mitchell, and Lindsay Greene, and it’s supported in part by a grant from the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.

  9. Mother’s Day Chocolate Tasting and Mimosa Bar

    Mother’s Day is all about spoiling the most important women in our lives. Join Delysia Chocolatier for a special day of complimentary chocolate tastings and give molded chocolate roses to mothers. They’ll also host a complimentary mimosa bar to help moms relax and enjoy some chocolate.
  10. Storybook Dance Making at Easton Park
    Sunday, May 13 | from 3 to 4 p.m. | Easton Park, 7000 Cardinal Bloom Loop
    Dance Waterloo is proud to host a six-week Storybook Dance Making program in Easton Park. Children ages 5-10 can join Dance Waterloo in the park for 60 minutes of dancing with mom, dad, grandma, and more. Each class is inspired by a storybook. Dance Waterloo designs each class to incorporate elements of social-emotional learning (SEL) through story time and dance making activities that are fun for both children and adults! Storybook Dance Making is a family dance education program. Guardians are required to participate with children.

  • Dripping Springs Race to Brunch 5K and Festival (Dripping Springs)
    Saturday, May 12 | from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Caliterra, 26025 Ranch Rd. 12, Dripping Springs
    The 5k trail run will take place on the beautiful trails in the Caliterra community where you’ll run along the scenic Onion Creek! All participants will receive an event shirt and a VIP swag bag! You’ll be welcomed to the finish line with a toast thanks to event partners Twisted X Brewing Company! Food vendors include Tryst Food Truck, Raza’s, The Big Drip, and others. They’ll have culinary and mixology demos happening throughout the day and live music by The Reverent Few! The festival is FREE.
  • Art Squared Art Market (San Marcos)
    Saturday, May 12 | from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Downtown Square San Marcos, 150 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos
    The Art Squared Arts Market is a juried fine arts and fine crafts event that happens every second Saturday, from March through December, in San Marcos, Texas.  This open air art market features all handmade, original artwork shown by the artists themselves. In addition to all the great art there is live music, free yoga/tai-chi, free kid’s arts and crafts, featured non-profit organizations, and a farmer’s market adjacent to the art market.  Art Squared is produced by the San Marcos Art League and is sponsored by the San Marcos Arts Commission.
  • Nature Day at Baker Sanctuary (Leander)
    Saturday, May 12 | from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Baker Sanctuary, 12308 Lime Creek Rd., Leander
    Free and open to the public for one day. Enjoy a rare glimpse of the beautiful wildlife sanctuary at this fun event for the whole family! Join guided tours featuring Golden-cheeked Warblers, native plants, butterflies, and insects. Kids can take part in a variety of activities such as nest box building, bird identification, bird bean bag toss, and making a pine cone bird feeder. Picnicking welcome! Trail snacks, water, and gatorade will be available. Please bring your own water bottle that can be refilled on site.
  • Gifts from the Trees Hike (Lockhart)

    Discover the secrets of your backyard trees in this fun walk! Join a Master Naturalist to hear about the fascinating trees and history of Lockhart State Park! All ages welcome. No registration required. Meet your guide at the Creekview Trailhead. If driving from park headquarters, take your first left-hand turn, pass the campgrounds, and park along the paved loop. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult and free for children 12 & under).
  • Mother’s Day Walk (Lockhart)
    Sunday, May 13 | from 2 to 3 p.m. |Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Rd., Lockhart
    Celebrate Mother’s Day with a special program at Lockhart State Park! Join Ranger Reagan and her mother on a walk to enjoy the beauty of Lockhart State Park and discuss beneficial plants. Then, plant your own beneficial plants to take home! All ages welcome. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult, free for children 12 & under).
