The month keeps marching along and so does our weekend top 10 list! Here are the top 10 FREE events happening in and around town this weekend.


Before the weekend even begins, kick off the fun with a free demo class at Heartsong Music! Heartsong Music teaches Music Together®, the internationally recognized music and movement program for children from birth through grade two—and the adults who love them. Beloved by millions of children, parents, and early childhood educators for almost 30 years, Music Together serves 2500 communities in over 40 countries and connects families across the globe as they express and explore the basic human instinct for making music! On Thursday night, they’re offering a pajama time class at 6:15 p.m. Can’t make that time work? No problem, they’ve got free demo classes all weekend long. All you have to do is sign up here.

  1. Opening Reception for It’s Not What You Think: 2018 Senior Art Exhibition
    Friday, March 23
    | from 6 to 8 p.m. | UT Visual Arts Center,  UT Campus, Art Building, 23rd and San Jacinto Streets
    The Senior Art Exhibition catalogs a pivotal moment for many young artists graduating from the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin. It’s Not What You Think includes a range of work in print, sculpture, painting, photography, video, installation, and game design by students receiving bachelor’s degrees in Studio Art and Visual Art Studies. Free and open to the public.
  2. Live Station of the Cross
    Friday, March 23
    | from 7 to 8 p.m. | St. Thomas More, 10205 RR620 North
    Presented by the STM Middle and High School teens, both young and old are invited to bring family and friends to St. Thomas More. Walk through the stations of the cross with live characters and commentary.
  3. Thor Ragnarok Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, March 23 | from 7 to 9 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of Thor Ragnarok. Get there at 7 p.m. to  pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation is highly appreciated.
  4. STEAM Festival at Harmony Science Academy Pf! (Pflugerville)
    Saturday, March 24 | from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Harmony Science Academy, 1421 Wells Branch Pkwy. Ste. 200, Pflugerville
    All are invited to the Harmony Science Academy Pflugerville STEAM Festival on Saturday, March 24. The festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. throughout the campus. The event will highlight the High School STEM and Fine Arts programming. Food, games, resources for families, and Summer Camp presentations will be offered throughout the day.
  5. Round Rock Express Annual Fan Fest (Round Rock)

    Baseball is back! At the annual Fan Fest, Dell Diamond will transform into an interactive fun zone for fans of all ages. Fan Fest is a free event and open to the public. More info here.
  6. Bug Eat Bug Hike (Lockhart)
    Saturday, March 24 | from 10 to 11 a.m. | Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Rd., Lockhart
    Join a Master Naturalist to meet your backyard bugs, and explore how insects fight for survival in the bug eat bug world of Lockhart State Park! All ages welcome. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult and free for children 12 & under).
  7. Blanton Block Party
    Saturday, March 24
    | from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. | Blanton Museum of Art, 200 E. Martin Luther King Blvd.
    The Blanton Block Party is back! Be there for a free day-to-night community festival to kick off Spring and celebrate the big changes on the block. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience Ellsworth Kelly’s Austin, the freestanding building designed by the renowned artist as a place for “joy and contemplation” and now part of the museum’s permanent collection. The galleries and outdoor plaza will be buzzing throughout the day with activities for all ages, including art making, live music, dining, and special museum tours. As the sun sets, the party continues with after-hours art viewing, a cash bar, music and dancing, a photo booth, and even more art activities.

    pring students will be launching their business and gathering information to help grow their business at the $tart-Up! Kid’s Market. During this celebration, the community is invited to come out and “support” small business, but stay for the music, food, and silent auction.
  9. Egg – Stravaganza (Cedar Park)
    Sunday, March 25 | from 2 to 3 p.m. | Elizabeth Milburn Park, 1901 Sun Chase Blvd., Cedar Park
    Bring your basket to hunt for candy, prizes, and goodies. Take your photo with the bunny until 2:45 p.m. (bring your own camera). Enjoy jumping in the inflatables and face painting. Admission is free. All ages will start the egg hunt at the same time at 2 p.m.
  10. FREE Kite & Bubble Festival
    Sunday, March 25 | from 4 to 6 p.m. | Texas Oaks Baptist Church, 9910 Bilbrook Pl.
    Enjoy your kites and bubbles on Texas Oaks Baptist Church’s huge open field for an afternoon of FREE fun! Don’t have a kite or bubbles? No problem! They’ll be giving away many during their Easter Egg Hunts that begin at 4:30 p.m. for all ages. BYO lawn chairs or blankets. They’ll provide the water and snacks. All are welcome!

  • Bunny Bonanza ($3)
    Friday, March 23 | from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Northwest Recreation Center, 2913 Northland Dr.
    Hop on over to the Northwest Recreation Center for their annual Easter egg hunt and chance to meet the Easter Bunny! This event is for walking toddler to 5-years-old. Amission is $3 per child. Please bring your own baskets and a camera to get a picture with the Easter Bunny.
  • Egg and Palm Decorating Workshop Egg Hunt by Austin Polish Society ($5)
    Sunday, March 25 | from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Woodland Park at River Place, 8820 Big View Dr.
    Austin Polish Society is hosting an Easter Egg painting and Palm making workshop and the drowning of Marzanna (Frost Maiden). Decorating eggs and making beautiful, colorful palms for Easter are very distinctive Polish Easter Traditions. Children and adults alike are invited to enjoy some arts and craft in beautiful surrounding of a River Place Park. Materials and refreshments will be provided. Please bring old clothes or T-shirts and your own basket for the Easter Egg Hunt. For Easter Palms, bring short sticks, 50 cm (20 inch) or more and any green additions for your Palm. Admission for this event will be $5 per person.
