Another fantastic weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around Austin. Here are the top 10 FREE events happening this weekend.

  1. Music in the Park (Pflugerville)
    Friday, June 1 | from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Pfluger Park, 515 City Park Rd., Pflugerville
    The annual Music In The Park outdoor concert series showcases a variety of live bands and one movie night on selected Friday nights. There’s no admission charge, so bring lawn chairs, pfurry friends, blankets, picnic baskets, friends and neighbors for a free evening of music, entertainment and relaxation.
  2. Movies in the East
    Friday, June 1 | at 8 p.m. (dusk) | Easton Park, 7000 Cardinal Bloom Loop
    Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy Grease under the stars. Concessions will not be available, but you are welcome to bring a picnic. Glass containers are prohibited. Admission is free. Movie starts at dusk.
  3. The Lion King Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, June 1 | from 8 to 11 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of The Lion King Get there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  4. Ballet Under the Stars
    Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2 | from 8:30 to 11:45 p.m. | Zilker Hillside Theater, 2206 William Barton Dr.
    Join Austin Metamorphosis Dance Ensemble as they close out the season on June 1 and 2 (rain date June 3).  They will present the annual event Ballet Under the Stars. Beginning just before sundown, this Austin tradition is fun for the whole family and a great way to kick off your summer. Audience will enjoy original works created by the resident artists that span a variety of dance styles. Whether it’s your first time at a dance performance or you are a seasoned patron of the arts, you will be amazed at the talent and creativity of our artists. During intermission the bucket is passed for donations and any amount is graciously accepted. Concessions are available.
  5. Children’s Day by Austin Polish Society
    Saturday, June 2 | from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Lakewood Clubhouse, 7317 Lakewood Dr.
    Join the 4th Austin Polish Society Children’s Day. Everybody is welcome! There is a swimming pool next to the Clubhouse. Magician BILLY RIGGS will pay a visit at 11 a.m.!   6. Austin Emergency Center Summer Party
    Saturday, June 2 | from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Austin Emergency Center, 13435 Hwy. 183 N. Ste. 311
    Join June 2 at Austin Emergency Center- Anderson Mill to kick off the summer. They will have FREE pizza, snow cones, a rock wall, balloon artists, a princess booth and more!
  7. Austin Under the Stars
    Saturday, June 2 | at 6 p.m. | St, Stephens Episcopal School, 6500 St Stephens Dr.
    Austin Astronomical Society (AAS), in collaboration with St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, brings to the public Austin Under the Stars (AUTS).  AUTS, now in its 21st year, is designed to bring the spectacles of the night sky and hands on astronomical learning to the Austin Metropolitan community. This special event is free of charge, and will take place on Phipps Field and in the Spartan Fitness & Wellness Center on the St. Stephen’s Campus off of the Capital of Texas Highway.
  8. Blessing of the Animals (Cedar Park)
    Sunday, June 3 | at 1 p.m. | Anderson Mill Park West Pavillion, 2900 El Salido Pkwy., Cedar Park
    Bring your favorite animal companions (dog, cat, rabbit, bearded dragon, guinea pig, or other furry, feathered, or scaly friend) to join you for a special blessing and a ceremony affirming the special role our beloved pets play in our lives. Each year, they collect pet care items (dog & cat food, pet beds, blankets, and more) to donate to local animal shelters and animal rescue organizations. Animal care/welfare organizations also participate in this event and help you learn how you can better help animal friends in need. Enjoy some family-friendly fun: photo booth, door prizes, treats, and more!
  9. Pups & Pals Summer Kick Off!
    Sunday, June 3 | from 1 to 4 p.m. | Pups & Pals Pet Lounge, 8721 S. 1st St.
    Welcome Summer 2018 with a backyard BBQ! Pups & Pals will provide beer, bbq, and we have a live band – the Haydn Vitera Duo! Bring camping chairs to sit in! All humans are welcome at this event, as well as all dogs who are current Pups & Pals daycare or boarding clients. If you’re bringing your pup, please RSVP! Dogs who are not P&P clients will not be permitted at this event.
  10. Hartman Foundation Concerts in the Park!
    Sunday, June 3 | from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Austin Symphony at the Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Dr.
    These free ensemble concerts take place at the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace, and each Sunday a different ensemble of the ASO will be featured. A variety of music will be performed, from jazz and light classical to pops selections and film scores. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing.
