- Austin Handbell Ensemble Spring Concert – Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. Explore the many facets of glorious luminescence and study “Light & Might” with the Austin Handbell Ensemble. Find out why handbells aren’t just for the holidays. Admission is FREE, but donations are graciously accepted. Friday’s concert will be at Lake Travis United Methodist Church, 1502 RR 620 N, Austin. - Romeo and Juliet (Round Rock) – Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at 8 p.m. Performances take place in the amphitheater of the Centennial Plaza. Audiences are welcome to bring their own food and drink, or to purchase snacks from the concessions tent. Recommended for middle school ages and up. - Bubblepalooza – Saturday, June 14, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Bubblepalooza returns for its third year! Families are invited to spend time on the City Terrace and front lawn enjoying live music, chalk art, water fun, and (of course) tons of bubbles at this annual celebration of open play. This year there will be even more fun with a special appearance by ERTH’s Dinosaur Petting Zoo’s T-Rex! FREE! City Terrace, Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Drive, Austin.
- World Refugee Day – Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday is World Refugee Day across the globe and the Austin celebration will be held at the Bullock Texas State History Museum with an official naturalization ceremony and children’s activities that will focus on learning about the journey of a refugee. - Puppet Show Celebrating Fathers – Saturday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. Crafty puppeteers will be celebrating all the things that make our dads the coolest and most lovable guys around. - Juneteenth Celebration – Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Reenactments, festivities, games, music, refreshments, and a Juneteenth Marketplace. Hear stories from the Texas Slave Narratives and listen to General Granger read the Third Command that freed Texas slaves. The schedule includes a reading of Ancestor Tree in the Museum Store (followed by tree craft for kids) at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., performances by Kyia Johnson and Detour from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., an AISD Bands Performance at 3:30 p.m., and games all day! - Austin Symphonic Band: Father’s Day in the Park – Sunday, June 15, from 7:30 – 9 p.m. ASB celebrates your dad with this annual concert at the Zilker Hillside Theatre. Marches, patriotic melodies, and other familiar works are the order of the day – selections that will have Dad’s toe tappin’ – as well as your own (program here). - Austin Symphony Hartman Foundation “Concerts in the Park” – Sunday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. Each Sunday, a different ensemble of the Austin Symphony will be featured at the Hartman Park, located on the grounds of the Long Center, performing music from jazz and light classical to pops selections and film scores. For Father’s Day, you can enjoy Big Band music (program here). Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing.
