Another fantastic weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around Austin. Here are the top 10 FREE events happening this weekend.

  1. KIDZ Zone Live
    Friday, July 20 | from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Trinity Abundant Life Church, 412 Cumberland Rd.
    KIdz Zone is bringing Kidz Church to you LIVE & UPCLOSE! Parent and student participation is HIGHLY encouraged. There will be games, door prizes, object lessons, illusions, maybe some pie-throwing as well. It’s a week-long VBS wrapped up in ONE NIGHT! If you get there early (5:30-6:30) there will be a light dinner provided, FREE of charge. Come one, come ALL! First 20 kids to sign up will receive a special prize! Bring your non-perishable food items with you. They are accepting donations for our JLG Food Pantry.
  2. City of Georgetown Sunset Movie Series (Georgetown)
    Friday, July 20 | at 7:30 p.m. | San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow, Georgetown
    Grab a blanket or some chairs and enjoy a movie under the stars! Georgetown Parks and Recreation hosts films at the soccer fields in San Gabriel Park, located behind the Creative Playscape. This is a free community event. The movie starts at sunset. Arive early for free popcorn along with some fun and games, starting at 7:30 p.m. Free parking is available at the Georgetown Recreation Center.
  3. Wall-E Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, July 20 | from 8 to 11 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screeningGet there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  4. 60th Anniversary Zilker Summer Musical: All Shook Up
    Friday – Sunday, July 20-22 | from 8:15 to 10:45 p.m. | Zilker Park Hillside Theater, 2100 Barton Springs Rd.
    This summer, ZTP journeys back to the 1950’s — the era of the first Zilker Summer Musical — with the Elvis-inspired All Shook Up! And it wouldn’t be a true Elvis-style party without some blue suede shoes. All Shook Up, set in 1950’s Middle America, is a new twist on on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The ZTP Team can’t wait to share this toe-tapping, hip-shaking musical comedy – featuring 24 Elvis hits – as well as lots of laughs, love songs and leather jackets. Free admission.
  5. Family Fun Day
    Saturday, July 21 | from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Trinity Abundant Life Church, 412 Cumberland Rd.
    Join for a fun-filled time with FREE food, games, waterslide and other water activity games. Free Hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, etc. Bring your towel and extra clothes because more than likely you’re going to get soaked. This is a family event! All are welcome. Can food drive. Bring your non-perishable food items with you. They are accepting donations for our JLG Food Pantry!
  6. Arcade Night – An After Hours Event
    Saturday, July 21 | from 6 to 9 p.m. | University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln.
    This event is for all ages. University Hills Branch Library will be converted into an arcade with several life sized games and arcade snacks! Featuring: 10 gaming systems including Wii, X-Box 360, PS4 & Nintendo Switch. Plus, Jenga, Connect4 and Candyland. Photo booth and arcade snack shack.
  7. Camp Lucy Summer Movie Series – The Princess Bride (Dripping Springs)
    Saturday, July 21 | from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. | Camp Lucy, 3509 Creek Rd., Dripping Springs
    Inconceivable! Evening events will start at 7:30, with the movie beginning at dusk. Must RSVP via Eventbrite. No outside food or drink will be allowed. Blankets, pillows and lawn chairs are welcome! Anybody want a peanut? Food and drink will be available for purchase onsite, including Camp Lucy’s chef-inspired menu of light appetizers, entrees, gourmet popcorn, beer, wine, and select craft cocktails.
  8. Staci Gray @ Cherrywood Coffeehouse
    Sunday, July 22 | from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Cherrywood Coffeehouse, 1400 E. 38 1/2th St.
    A full hour and a half of music, bubbles, and good times! Staci Gray is an Austin based children’s entertainer known for The Tom Tom T-Rex and bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles!
  9. Hartman Foundation Concerts in the Park
    Sunday, July 22 | from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Dr.
    These free ensemble concerts take place at the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace, and each Sunday a different ensemble of the ASO will be featured. A variety of music will be performed, from jazz and light classical to pops selections and film scores. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing.
  10. Free Summer Series at Easy Tiger
    Sunday, July 22 | at 8 p.m. | Easy Tiger, 709 E. 6th St.
    Next up in the FREE summer film series co-hosted by Real Ale Brewing is a family-friendly screening of Space Jam, the highest-grossing basketball film of all time! Arrive early for prime seats.

  • Bird Walk (Lockhart)
    Saturday, July 21 | from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Rd., Lockhart
    How many birds can we find and identify around Lockhart State Park? Take a walk with a park ranger and find out! All ages and experience levels welcome. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring binoculars and a field guide, if you have them. Materials will also be available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult, free for children 12 & under).
