  1. top-10Community Breakfast Studio Crawl
    Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.  |    Canopy, 916 Springdale Rd, Austin
    Join the second Community Breakfast Studio Crawl, a bi-monthly collaborative and community event between Canopy (916 Springdale Rd), Pump Project (702 Shady Ln), and Bolm Studios (5305 Bolm Rd). Complimentary breakfast will be served at Canopy before guests are invited to head out to see current studio work and exhibitions at the three east Austin art complexes. From 9:30-11 a.m., breakfast tacos, coffee, yogurt, granola and a bloody mary bar will be provided by Paco’s Tacos, Sa-Tén Coffee and Eats, KIND Snacks, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Also, the Austin Tinkering School will be hosting a Frankentoys Building Activity! Reassemble broken toys into bizarre, frightening, or hilarious combinations to create a Frankentoy: a new kind of creature the world has never seen before. Studios will be open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. FREE!

  3. Drawing Salon Series
    Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.   |   Elisabet Ney Museum, 304 E 44th St, Austin
    During the month of January, the Elisabet Ney Museum will host a drawing salon every Saturday. By using Ney’s sculptural works as inspiration, participants will develop observational and conceptual skills through unique drawing exercises. The museum will provide all required materials, and trained staff members will be on hand to offer constructive advice and guidance. Participation is FREE and open to all ages.
  4. Second Saturdays are for Families: Home Tweet Home
    Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.   |   Laguna Gloria, 3809 West 35th St., Austin
    Every second Saturday of the month, The Contemporary Austin offers hands-on art-making workshops at Laguna Gloria, inspired by the exhibitions on view. See family-friendly performances, meet local artists, and make art to take home. Recommended for ages 2–11. Drop in and create for FREE! Be a good neighbor by designing a modern birdhouse to keep your feathered friends warm this winter. Feeling hospitable? Add more houses to create a whole bird neighborhood. Plus, the interactive foam installation, A retrospective view of the pathway, will turn on at 1 p.m.
  5. Paramount Theatre Storytime

    Paramount Theatre will visit BookPeople for a very special storytime, highlighting the theatre’s upcoming production of Elephant & Piggie! Fans of Gerald and Piggie will be delighted by this exciting performance! FREE!
  6. Boar’s Head Pageant 2016
    Saturday from 3-8 p.m.   |   St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin
    St. Albert the Great Catholic Church proudly presents the 13th annual Boar’s Head Pageant. Join them for the only medieval celebration of the Christmas season and New Year in Austin. Enjoy a family friendly play set in the royal court of Olde England, see elaborate period costumes, a live orchestra, dancing, songs and the arrival of the Magi at a live Nativity scene. Make plans to enjoy this delightful musical presentation. General Admission tickets for open seating are FREE (donations appreciated). Reserved Seats with VIP reception are $20. Tickets are available here or by calling Andy at 512-837-4179. Arrive early and wander around the Medieval Village (weather permitting). From 3-6 p.m., see live demonstrations of medieval life.   8. Family Day at the Umlauf
    Sunday from 12-4 p.m.   |   Umlauf Sculpture Garden, 605 Robert E Lee Rd, Austin
    Family Days offer special, hands-on programs designed for families with children, four to ten years old. Families have the opportunity to explore the UMLAUF while engaging in creative activities.   10. Pirates of Penzance Revue and Sing Along

    Start the new year with the classic music of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. Hear many of your favorite Pirates songs including “I am the very model of a modern Major-General,” “Hail, Poetry” and “Poor wand’ring one” – and even get the chance to sing along if you like.
