While the weather in Austin has its ups and downs, you can always depend on our list of family friendly events! From educating your kids on the 10 Things I Hate About You to some legit educational activities, here are the top 10 FREE events happening in and around Austin this week.
A big thanks to this week’s sponsor, the ZACH Theatre’s production of Las Aventuras de Enoughie. Enoughie knows what it’s like to be different from other kids. He’s got a blue furry face and magical antennae. So when his new friends Esme and Hector get into an argument over their differences, Enoughie uses his magical antennae to help them resolve their disagreement and learn to empathize, trust, work together, and believe in themselves. Easily understood in English and Spanish, this bilingual puppet production will be presented in collaboration with ZACH Theatre, Teatro Vivo, Glass Half Full Theatre, and The Kindness Campaign. Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at the Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of 10 Things I Hate About You. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Dance with your family to live music, play games, and enjoy a storybook reading. Storybook Dance Making classes include a warm up, check-in activity, game, storybook reading, and dance making activity. Each lesson is aligned with the National Core Standards for Dance Education and taught by a Dance Waterloo artist. This class is best for families with children ages 4-7. Austin Family Magazine will be hosting their 20th Camp Fair event, which is free to the public. We will have camps from the area, plus Hill Country, and out-of-state. This is an all-ages show with Alamo for All rules – noisy young fans won’t be asked to leave the theater but we do ask that cellphones and other devices stay dark.
