Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and it just so happens to be a three day weekend! There are so many great things to do in and around town, especially with the extra day off. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.
- The Contemporary Print
Friday, January 17 | From 7 to 10 p.m. | Big Medium Gallery (at Canopy), 1701 Red River Street
Print Austin is celebrating its 7th annual juried international exhibition, The Contemporary Print, presented in collaboration with Big Medium, a nonprofit organization supporting contemporary art in Texas.
- Central Texas Feline Rescue
Saturday, January 18 | From 10 to 11 a.m. | The Hive Austin, 10415 Old Manchaca Road
The Hive is hosting a FREE family friendly event this Saturday morning. Featured live music acts, $3 mimosas, gated backyard play area, and a bounce hive! There’s something for everyone.
- Lunar New Year Kickoff
Saturday, January 18 | From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. | H-Mart, 11301 Lakeline Boulevard
Celebrate new beginnings and honor the past with H Mart. Since the Year of the Rat officially commences at the end of the month, guests are invited to celebrate a little early with food and drinks as well as fun and games. This event is FREE, family-friendly and open to the public. Food samples, drink specials and shopping discounts will run while supplies last!
- Women’s March -Austin 2020
Saturday, January 18 | From 12 to 3 p.m. | Texas Capital, 1100 Congress Avenue
Standing up for your rights and the rights of others is FREE! The rally at the Capitol will energize, engage and unite women to make our diverse voices heard. Marchers will gather on the south steps of the Capitol Building where the rally will start at noon- rain or shine.
- Camp Gladiator FREE Bootcamp
Saturday, January 18 | From 9 to 10 a.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Boulevard
This boot camp type workout will take place on the Central Plaza lawn and is open to anyone over the age of 14. It’s recommended to bring water, a towel, and yoga mat to make the workout more enjoyable. Sweat it out at this FREE event!
- January Austin Flea at Radio
Sunday, January 19 | From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.| Radio Coffee and Beer, 4204 Manchaca Road
The Austin Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin’s most amazing and talented vendors. Find one-of-a-kind gifts for any occasion. Entrance to the event is FREE and open to all ages!

Sunday, January 19| From 8:30 to 9:20 a.m. | JCC- Shalom Austin, 7300 Hart Lane
Check out the JCC in January for FREE and slay your Sunday workout with an intense ride reminiscent of those crave-worthy boutique studio classes – high energy, fast RPMs, and some light dumbbell work for an all-inclusive total body experience.

- MLK Community March
Monday, January 20 | From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. | UT Campus and Huston-Tillotson University, 900 Chicon
The Annual Community March celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy while uplifting diversity and multi-culturalism in the city. It kicks off with a short program at the MLK Statue on the University of Texas campus. At the conclusion of the program at the MLK Statue they will the south steps of the Capitol for a rally. After the Capitol program, the march will proceed to the historic Huston-Tillotson University, where exciting activities are planned! - Free Admission on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Monday, January 20 | From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Lyndon Baines Johnson Library, 2313 Red River Street
The LBJ Presidential Library will be offering free admission to all visitors on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In addition to our permanent exhibitions, the special exhibition currently on view is: “Motown: The Sound of Young America.” This is a great opportunity to see the exhibition! Its 10-month run at the library ends Sunday, January 26.
