Another wonderful Austin weekend is here and there are so many great things to do in and around town! Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

  1. ABC Sale, Southwest Austin’s Largest Children’s Consignment Sale
    Friday, February 21 | From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.| Austin Oaks Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Boulevard
    Looking for high-quality, gently used children’s clothing, toys and gear, but don’t want to spend retail prices? Look no further than the ABC Sale. The selection of items is huge! You don’t want to miss this sale. Proceeds of this sale help to offset the expenses of the Austin Oaks Church Mothers of Preschoolers group.
  2. Art In Cahoots!
    Friday, February 21 | From 10 to 11:15 a.m. | Dougherty Arts Center, 1110 Barton Springs Road
    Socialize, cooperate, and connect over art! Strengthen the bond between child and care giver with this one-on-one, interactive class. Each class includes group activities as well.
  3. Texas Wildflower Run
    Saturday, February 22 | From 8 to 10 a.m.| Austin American-Statesman, 305 South Congress Avenue
    Austin 10K’r invites you to join them for a unique variety of fun running routes that will complement your Cap10K training. The Texas Wildflower Run is a traditional 3 to 5.5-mile route that travels on the Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake. One of the best times of the year to plant wildflower seeds in Texas is late winter before the spring showers. At the event native Texas wildflower seed packets will be provided, and with your assistance we will help Mother Nature get a head start on covering the trail with vibrant spring colors. There a several green spaces along the trail that are sheltered from spring time grass mowing and we will attempt to seed these areas.  Enjoy cinnamon rolls, coffee, hot chocolate and other snacks when you finish. The Texas Wildflower Run will start and finish at the Austin American-Statesman.
  4. Austin Cave Festival
    Saturday, February 22 | From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, 4801 La Crosse Avenue
    Join the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for a FREE, family-friendly day of hands-on exploration & learning how to help protect Austin’s water resources. Meet cave scientists, explore a cave (ages 5 ), learn about animals that call Austin’s caves home, enjoy live music, and more! 
  5. Meet The Author Alex Kiester
    Saturday, February 22 | From 1 to 2 p.m. | Austin Public Library Twin Oaks Branch, 1800 South 5th Street
    Meet local author Alex Kiester to discuss her Audible exclusive audiobook, In Her Skin. Learn more about the book and Alex on her page. Light refreshments will also be provided at the event.
  6. Intro into Archery (Lockhart)
    Saturday, February 22 | From 1 to 3 p.m.| Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Road, Lockhart

    Head out to Lockhart State Park for a lesson in international style archery! Participants will learn the basics of this archery style in a safe and fun 2-hour workshop. All equipment is provided. Regular park entrance fees apply, $3 for adults, free for children 12 and under.
  7. Black History Month Event
    Saturday, February 22 | From 2 to 3 p.m.| University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Lane
    Lockets have been a popular way to preserve the memory of a loved one, and have been a keepsake since the Renaissance.  Join us for a brief history of lockets and their use in preserving memories.  After, we will create family history lockets/keepsakes that can hold several images. Bring your pictures and we will make copies that can be used for this craft.
  8. Mardi Gras
    Saturday, February 22 | From 3 to 6 p.m.| The Hive, 10415 Old Manchaca Road

    Get those beads and Mambo shoes ready! The Hive is going to have an amazingly fun Mardi Gras event with live music, FREE burgers, crafts, and much more!
  9. The Austin Flea at Fareground Austin
    Sunday, February 23| From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.| Fareground, 111 Congress Avenue
    The Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin’s most amazing and talented vendors. Fareground, hosts the flea every 4th Sundays Flea- a fabulous venue that hosts so many delicious eateries. Entrance to the event is FREE and open to all ages!
  10. Austin Family 22nd Annual Camp Fair
    Sunday, February 23| From 12 to 4 p.m.| Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road

    FREE Event. Join us for our annual Camp Fair to learn more about summer camp options in Austin.
