Another fantastic weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around Austin. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

 

The Weekend Top 10 is brought to you by December in 2ND Street District. Austin-owned boutiques, award-winning local fare, and lively entertainment make walkable 2ND Street District Austin’s top destination, especially for holiday shopping and activities. From local cuisine and al fresco dining to shops, live music, craft bars, and more, 2ND Street District is jam-packed with the homegrown community vibe of Austin. On Saturday, December 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. visitors can enjoy photos with Santa and holiday music from KP and The Boom Boom and Drew Davis at W Austin while sipping holiday cocktails and browsing the local Holiday Pop-Up Shops. This event will offer guests first-class retail options for all their holiday shopping needs. Weekend Top 10 FREE Austin Events: December 6-8, 2018

  1. Community First Village and Screening of Miracle on 34th Street
    Friday, December 7 | from 5:30 to 9 p.m. | Community First Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    This FREE holiday event boasts more than 250,000 Christmas lights choreographed to holiday music, and is one of the biggest Christmas light displays in Central Texas! Santa will make an early visit and be available for family photos. Plus, the Community First Village Advent Market offers unique, handcrafted gifts made by formerly homeless craftsmen and artisans. You can also enjoy a free holiday themed movie at the Community Cinema and concessions for purchase from the Community Grille.
  2. Christmas Family Night (Round Rock)
    Friday, December 7 | at 6:30 p.m. | Main Street, Downtown Round Rock
    During Christmas Family Night, Main Street will be decorated with small wooden houses that host various games and activities. The event kicks off with a welcome from Mayor Alan McGraw, followed by the illumination of holiday lights. Then Santa makes his grand entrance. This FREE event includes activities for the entire family including live music, dancers, candle making, game booths, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus and more. Children should bring their wish lists for Santa Claus and parents are encouraged to bring their own cameras for pictures with Santa. Plus, enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, and other refreshments, activities and snacks.
  3. Holiday Tree Lighting and Santa’s Workshop (Cedar Park)
    Friday, December 7 | from 6:30 to 9 p.m. | Heritage Oak Park, 875 Quest Parkway, Cedar Park
    The Tree Lighting and Santa’s Workshop will feature live music, carriage rides, games & prizes, inflatables, photos with Santa (bring your own camera), and arts & crafts projects. Admission is free.
  4. Nyle Maxwell’s Christmas Dreams And Snowy Things (Round Rock)
    Saturday, December 8 | from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Chasco Family YMCA, 1812 N. Mays Street, Round Rock
    The CHASCO Family YMCA will see some snow this Christmas! Head to the Boles Family Sports Complex (on North Mays Street) in Round Rock on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm to be a part of it! There will be “Real Snow” activities as part of the fanfare for their Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships Christmas Dreams & Snowy Things event.
  5. Santa Lounge and Market
    Saturday, December 8 | from 1 to 5 p.m. | W Austin, 200 Lavaca St.

    The Triangle Holiday Party in the Park is an annual event that brings the Austin community together to celebrate the holidays with entertainment, food, music and the Triangle tree lighting.     Saturday, December 8 | from 6 to 8:30 p.m. | Historic Main Street, Bastrop
    Bastrop’s fanciful, fantastic, fun—and even famous—annual Lost Pines Christmas Parade will light up the night skies as it makes its way down Main Street on Saturday, December 8. Free!
  9. Stocking & S’Mores
    Sunday December 9 | from 2 to 5 p.m. | Cosmic Coffee Beer Garden, 121 Pickle Rd.

    Join Good Party at Cosmic Coffee Beer Garden for a dog friendly party that gives back for the holidays! Featuring: selfies with Santa, pet-themed market, s’mores, festive cocktails, adoptable dogs, and a supply drive for Austin Animal Center. Cosmic will be giving $1 per ‘Tis the Season’ cocktail sold back to AAC.
  10. Christmas Festival (Round Rock)
    Sunday December 9 | at 2 to 5 p.m. | True Life, 1600 E Old Settlers Blvd., Round Rock

    Free fun for children of all ages! Bouncy house, petting zoo, gingerbread-house-making competition, holiday-themed crafts, carnival games and more! Plus, visit Santa, Mrs. Claus and their busy elves! Grab a cup of hot cocoa and bag of popcorn and enjoy the afternoon with your family.
