Weekend Top 10 FREE Events: December 13 through 15, 2019

Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around town. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

The Weekend Top 10 is brought to you by the Trail of Lights. The Trail of Lights runs through Monday, December 23 with the front gates open from 7 to 10 p.m. each evening. The Trail of Lights Foundation ensures general admission is free and open-to-the-public seven out of the festival’s 14 nights, but limited quantities of premium tickets, allowing expedited “prepaid” entrance to skip the long lines and other perks, are also available.   1. Trail of Lights
    Friday through Sunday, December 13 through 15| from 7 to 10 p.m. | Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs Road

    Though Friday and Saturday night have a GA fee of $5, Sunday night is FREE! And it’s UT Night, presented by The University of Texas at Austin. There will be loads of Longhorn spirit to the Trail with special guests and programming along with a sea of burnt orange pride.
  2. Community First! Village of Lights
    Friday and Saturday, December 13 and 14 | from 5:30 to 9 p.m. | Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Road

    This FREE event boasts more than 250,000 lights choreographed to holiday music and is one of the biggest Christmas light displays in Central Texas! Santa will make an early visit and be available for family photos. Our Advent Market offers unique, handcrafted gifts made by formerly homeless artists and makers who live in Community First! Village. Classic Christmas movies will be featured each night at the Community Cinema. 
  3. Trail of Lights (Buda)
    Friday through Sunday, December 13 through 15 | from 6 to 10 p.m. | Historic Stagecoach Park, 880 Main Street, Buda
    Trail of Lights at Stagecoach Park is open Fridays through Sundays. Trail of Lights is a free holiday event that features lighted and decorated displays that are provided by local businesses and organizations. Visitors are able to walk the lighted trail in the park to view the dazzling exhibits, sip hot chocolate, and meet Santa himself.
  4. Candy Cane Crawl
    Friday, December 13 | from 6 to 7:30 p.m. | Mueller
    , 1911 Aldrich Street
    This free, holiday event will feature: caroling from the Mueller Community Singers, hot chocolate, holiday photos opportunities, class pack specials from barre3, chair massages and skin mapping from Massage Heights, and 15% off all holiday decor items Lilla & Beth. There will also be a Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt. The hunt will be begin at 7 p.m.. and end at 7:15 p.m. Flashlights will be provided. There will be prizes for the person that finds the most candy canes and for the three people that find the candy-filled candy canes. Holiday costumes are encouraged!
  5. The Domain Crafts + Storytime
    Saturday, December 14 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | The Domain, Century Oaks Lawn, near The Yard Milkshake Bar
    Bring your children over on Saturday mornings for holiday story time and craft activities on the Century Oaks Lawn, near The Yard Milkshake Bar. This event is free and open to the public!
  6. Waldorf Winter Fair
    Saturday, December 14 | from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Austin Waldorf School, 8700 South View Road
    The Winter Fair is a welcoming community event for everyone, it is a truly unique and heartfelt gathering for families and children. Our beautiful campus is transformed into an array of enchanting worlds for all ages. Mark your calendar, and bring your friends and family!Crafts and Activities for Every Age * Delicious Food * Live Music * Enchanted Forest * Artisan Vendors* Walking Sticks * Puppet Show * Pocket Lady & Lord & So Much More! Browse through the vendor marketplace and the Juniper Tree Store to find unique and exquisite gifts for all your holiday shopping.Entrance is free, and tickets will be sold for activities and food. Proceeds will all benefit Waldorf classes.
  7. Blair Woods Family Nature Day
    Saturday, December 14 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Blair Woods Nature Sanctuary, 5401 East MLK Jr. Boulevard
    Join Travis Audubon for a morning of educational activities at Blair Woods Sanctuary, a natural oasis in east Austin! Snacks and water will be provided. Activities will include guided walks and nature crafts led by our awesome volunteers. Starting at 11:30, there will be a presentation by our friends at Austin Reptile Shows with live reptiles! This event is free and open to the public.
  8. Yule Bazaar
    Sunday, December 15 | from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Nature’s Treasures, 4103 North Interstate 35
    The East Austin Handmade Arts Market returns to Nature’s Treasures for our biggest event of the year, the 10th Annual Yule Bazaar! Enjoy our casual holiday shopping experience with fantastic hand-made gifts of all kinds from the best of Austin’s artists and artisans! You will also be entertained by an eclectic array of local live musicians! There will also be an exclusive appearance of Elvis Santa! Additionally, KOOP’s DJ Baron Mind will entertain you with his ever-growing treasure trove of irreverent holiday tunes to provide a sharp comic relief from the music you’ve been bombarded with all season!
  9. Pop Up Sip N’ Shop
    Sunday, December 15 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | Central Machine Works, 4824 East Cesar Chavez Street
    The new East side brewery Central Machine Works is hosting a talented lineup of 20 local vendors on Sunday. There will also be tunes from Star parks and kids crafts for all ages. Free!
  10. Easy Tiger Winter Movie Series
    Sunday, December 15 | from 8 to 10:30 p.m. | Easy Tiger, 709 East 6th Street
    It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Join for free holiday movies featuring your favorite seasonal films. Round up your elves for drinks & desserts in the Beer Garden – all movies start promptly at 8 p.m. Arrive early for good seats! Parental Advisory: all ages are welcome to attend but be advised that Easy Tiger is a bar and minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
