Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around town. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

- Holiday Window Walk
Friday through Sunday, December 6 through 8 | All Day | 2ND Street District, Downtown Austin
Visitors can watch the storefronts of 2ND Street District businesses transform into decorative holiday scenes during the ninth annual Holiday Window Walk. St. Edward’s University students will activate their imaginations and design skills for their chance to win $4,500 worth of scholarships on behalf of the 2ND Street District. Participating stores include Austin General Store, Austin Rocks, Luxe Apothetique, and Sneaker Politics. Visit the district and vote for your favorite window display on the 2ND Street District Facebook page beginning on December 2. Everyone that votes is automatically entered to win a W Austin raffle package featuring bottle service for 10 in the Living Room Bar and massages at AWAY Spa for 2. First place will receive a $2,500 scholarship, second place will receive a $1,500 scholarship, and $500 will be given to the student who wins the public vote. The winners will be announced on Monday, December 9 through 2ND Street District’s social media channels.
- Santa’s Wonderland

Santa’s Wonderland is the ultimate free family Christmas event. The magic returns to Bass Pro Shops and Austin-area families are invited to enjoy this enchanting Christmas village offering FREE 4×6 studio-quality photos with Santa and free family holiday activities including fun crafts and games. Features include rustic Christmas cabins, holiday characters and live elves set amongst a dazzling backdrop of snow-covered hills and illuminated Christmas trees. The Santa’s Wonderland Christmas village offers remote control trucks, laser/ foam toy arcade, Lincoln Logs building area and much more. Kids can also enjoy free crafts, coloring stations and write a letter to Santa.
- Mozart’s 10th Annual Joyous Light Show
Friday through Sunday, December 6 through 8| from 6 to 10 p.m. | Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Boulevard
The Mozart’s Joyous Light Show is back for the 10th year in a row! Come celebrate the season with us. Magical lights, delicious hot chocolate, tasty treats, and a wonderful time for the whole family. Open every day except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Open Christmas Eve until 10 p.m.
- Hill Country Galleria Holiday Village
Friday through Sunday, December 6 through 8 | from 12 to 8 p.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Boulevard
Hill Country Galleria will host a Holiday Village on the lawn, starting on Saturday, November 23 and extending through the month of December, where guests can walk the decorated walkways and shop for gifts and goods like custom gifts, ornaments, seasonal coffee and cocoa, mulled cider, toys, spices, and apothecary goods from holiday vendors, such as CiMi Shine, ATX Wood Crafts, Grace & Charm, and more. Guests can also enjoy holiday entertainment like carolers and local dance and choir performances. Santa’s Workshop will also be open within the Holiday Village starting November 24 for guests to meet Santa and get special keepsake photos taken. - Community First! Village of Lights
Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7 | from 5:39 to 9 p.m. | Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Road
This FREE event boasts more than 250,000 lights choreographed to holiday music and is one of the biggest Christmas light displays in Central Texas! Santa will make an early visit and be available for family photos. Our Advent Market offers unique, handcrafted gifts made by formerly homeless artists and makers who live in Community First! Village. Classic Christmas movies will be featured each night at the Community Cinema.
- Texas Holiday Market (Driftwood)
Saturday, December 7 | from 2 to 6 p.m. | Desert Door Distillery, 211 Darden Hill Road, Driftwood
Desert Door is hosting a Texas-centric holiday market and will welcome 10 of their favorite artisan makers from around the state to host their first Texas Holiday Market offering leather goods, ceramics, caramels, and more. Located in their newly opened Rack House, they’ll be featuring holiday cocktails like the seasonal River Rita (white cranberry) and Sotol Cider. Among stringed lights and warm hues, will be festive tunes and classic holiday films running on their projector. Additionally, they’ll have a fire going on their patio and in their tasting room with live music by The Rewinders from 3 to 5 p.m. This event is free to enter, but a RSVP is needed. - Cherrywood Art Fair
Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8 | from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Maplewood Elementary, East 38 1/2 Street and Maplewood Avenue
Chula League’s Cherrywood Art Fair is an art filled two-day event showcasing local artists, live music, kids activities and great food in a free, family-friendly environment. Since its 2002 inception, the Fair has served as a destination for discerning holiday shoppers seeking unique, hand-crafted items from Texas artists and makers.
- Santa Lounge & Market 2019
Saturday, December 7 | from 1 to 5 p.m. | W Austin, 200 Lavaca Street
Not only can you shop artisans from around Austin at W Austin and 2ND Street District’s holiday market, but Santa himself will be there to take photos with! This year, 2ND Street District is partnering with Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area. The first 100 people to bring a toy donation to the market will receive a free cocktail to sip on while you shop the 2ND Street District stores.
- The Triangle Holiday Party in the Park
Sunday, December 8 | from 4 to 7 p.m. | Triangle Commons Park, 4660 Triangle Avenue
The Triangle Holiday Party in the Park is an annual event that brings the Austin community together to celebrate the holidays with entertainment, food, music and the Triangle tree lighting. Grab your friends and family and make sure you do not miss out on this free and fun holiday event that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit!
- Easy Tiger Winter Movie Series

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Join for free holiday movies featuring your favorite seasonal films.
