  1. National Health Center Week Back to School Bash
    Friday, August 17 | from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Southeast Health and Wellness Center, 2901 Montopolis Dr.
    In honor of National Health Center Week, you are invited to meet the health center SUPERHEROES. They will give away school backpacks & prizes, provide health screenings, and community resources in addition to entertainment, FREE food and refreshment. Immunizations offered for  ages 4-18. Please bring shot records with you.
  2. Family Free Movie Night
    Friday, August 17 | from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 W Slaughter Ln.
    Join for a free showing of the circus movie of the summer. (You know the one … your kids won’t stop singing the music!) We have fun prepared for the whole family. Doors open at 5:30 for a professional juggling act, face painting, carnival snacks, and free food! Movie begins at 6:30. (They’ll have another movie playing for smaller kids as well.) And don’t forget … wear your best circus attire!
  3. Avengers: Infinity War Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, August 17 | from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screeningGet there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  4. Back to School Splash
    Saturday, August 18 | from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Holy Word Church, 10601 Bluff Bend Dr.
    Holy Word’s annual “Back to School Splash” is a free, fun, family event designed to connect neighbors with the relationship and resources that make our community safer, healthier and smarter. Thanks to the donations of local businesses and the generosity of Holy Word attenders, this year they plan on giving away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in our community. Besides having fun in the sun with a giant water slide, dunk tank and live music, families will enjoy a healthy-choice lunch. Browse indoor and outdoor vendor booths including police, fire, dentists, doctors, safety and health services.
  5. Back to School Fest
    Saturday, August 18 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Delco Activity Center, 4601 Pecan Brook Dr.
    The Annual Back to School Event brings together children and parents. This event gives an opportunity to receive valuable community resources to the public, related to education, health and wellness, nutrition, photo opportunity with characters: Giant transformer, Minion, Ninja Turtle, Flash, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and much more!
  6. Mondo Gallery Presents – Heroes in a Halfshell: A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Celebration
    Saturday, August 18 | from 12 to 6 p.m. | Mondo Gallery, 4115 Guadalupe St.
    Mondo is stoked to invite TMNT fans to celebrate everyone’s favorite wise-cracking, pizza-obsessed crime fighters and their cast of heroic allies and evil arch enemies in our next gallery show, Heroes in a Half Shell: A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Celebration! The show kicks off with an opening night reception that’s free and open to the public. The opening night reception will be held Friday, August 17, from 7 to 10 p.m. Following the opening reception, the show will run during regular gallery hours (Tuesdays – Saturdays from 12 to 6 p.m.) until August 25.
  7. Glitterpalooza
    Saturday, August 18 | from 2 to 4 p.m. | Hampton Branch at Oak Hill, 5125 Convict Hill Rd.
    Join for a glittery, sparkly mess of an afternoon at the Hampton Branch at Oak Hill, where you will make glitter bracelets, glitter fireworks, glitter magnets and get our faces painted with, you guessed it, glitter paint! All supplies provided and all events are free.
  8. Austin Summer Musical for Children: Honk!
    Saturday & Sunday, August 18 & 19 | at 11 a.m., 2 & 4 p.m. on Saturday, 2 & 4 p.m. on Sunday| George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, 1165 Angelina St.
    Austin Summer Musical for Children is pleased to present HONK!, live on stage this summer! This delightful award-winning musical adaptation of “The Ugly Duckling” is a heartwarming celebration of what makes us special.
  9. Cars and Coffee Austin
    Sunday, August 19 | from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Circuit of the Americas, 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd.
    Central Texas’ biggest gathering of auto enthusiasts has found a new home at Circuit of The Americas! CARS & COFFEE AUSTIN is taking over Lot A for a monthly pop-up car show for the entire family. This month’s profits will be donated to Travis County Search & Rescue. Admission is free!
  10. Hartman Foundation Concerts in the Park
    Sunday, August 19 | from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Dr.
    These free ensemble concerts take place at the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace, and each Sunday a different ensemble of the ASO will be featured. A variety of music will be performed, from jazz and light classical to pops selections and film scores. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing.

  • Snakes of Central Texas (Lockhart)
    Saturday, August 18 | from  10 to 11 a.m. | Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Rd., Lockhart
    Local snake relocator and educator, Keelan Smith, is bringing his snakes to Lockhart State Park! Learn about these amazing animals, and meet them up close! All ages welcome. No registration required. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult, free for children 12 & under).
