  1. 19th Annual Red Poppy Festival (Georgetown)
    Friday to Sunday, April 27 to 29 | Times Vary | Georgetown Square, 103 W. 7th St., Georgetown
    Georgetown, Texas, the “Red Poppy Capital Of Texas,” will celebrate spring and its signature red poppies with the 19th Annual Red Poppy Festival April 27 through 29, in and around The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas. The festivities will begin with a kickoff concert on Friday night featuring Dysfunkshun Junkshun followed on Saturday night by this year’s headlining act, Joe Nichols, whose ninth studio album, Never Gets Old, was released on July 2017, and whose recent single, “Baby Got Back” features Sir Mix A Lot.
  2. 10th Annual Little Artist Big Artist Benefit Show
    Friday, April 27 | from 7 to 9 p.m. | Mondo Gallery, 4115 Guadalupe St.
    Grounded in East Austin, Chula League, producers of Cherrywood Art Fair, and Mondo are partnering to present the 10th Annual Little Artist BIG ARTIST Benefit Show. The two day art showcase, hosted by Mondo, feature works of over 70 artists (Little and BIG) from Chula League’s arts-mentorship program, Little Artist BIG ARTIST. The opening reception is Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m. Celebrating 10 years of arts-mentorship, guests will dance to music, be merry with drinks and eat delicious bites during the reception. Attendees can bid on each of the 41 Little Artists pieces, starting at $50 each. The funds raised at this event go back to each of the six East Austin Elementary schools, keeping true to Chula League’s mission in fueling and sustaining the arts in East Austin.  Gallery hours on Saturday, April 28, are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  3. Movies in the Park – Coco (Cedar Park)
    Friday, April 27 | from 8 to 10 p.m. | Elizabeth Milburn Park, 1901 Sun Chase Blvd, Cedar Park
    Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy Coco under the stars. Concessions will not be available, but you are welcome to bring a picnic. Glass containers are prohibited. Admission is free.
  4. Ferdinand Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday, April 27 | from 7:30 to 10 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of Ferdinand. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  5. Fairytale Tea Party
    Saturday, April 28 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Gus Garcia Recreation Center, 1201 E. Rundberg Ln.
    You are hereby summoned to a magical celebration complete with princesses and forest friends. Come dressed in your favorite princess attire. Enjoy light refreshments and cupcakes. Play games, make crafts, and take pictures by the castle.
  6. 11th Annual Springfest At Hill Country Galleria (Bee Cave)
    Saturday, April 28 | From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Blvd., Bee Cave
    The Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce will bring SpringFest back to the Hill Country Galleria on Saturday. Presented by St. David’s Emergency Center, SpringFest will be a full-day community festival filled with shopping, food, music and fun for the whole family. SpringFest kicks off  with unique shopping vendors, a KidZone the size of a football field, kid’s performances and live music in the Central Plaza, a Boat Expo, and tasty craft beers and Texas wines in the BrewHaus and WineStomp.
  7. Kids Fest 2018
    Saturday, April 28 | from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Allison Elementary School, 515 Vargas St.
    Kids Fest 2018 is a fun family event with live music and entertainment. Lots of door prizes and giveaways, snacks and plenty of family entertainment. Our door prizes include a TV, bicycles, toys, gift cards and much more. Everyone is welcome to this free event.
  8. Earth Day
    Sunday, April 29 | All Day | Huston Tillotson University, 900 Chicon St.
    Celebrate Earth Day at the largest sustainability event in Central Texas. Free musical performances, interactive exhibits, and creative programming makes this event educational (and fun)!
  9. Community Art Sunday
    Sunday, April 29 | at 2 p.m. | Creative Action, 2921 E. 17th St., Bldg. B
    At the April edition of Community Art Sunday, explore what it means to be a creative entrepreneur. Have a fantastic, one-of-a-kind idea? Describe it at their Pitch Booth, then create your very own logo and swag at the Button Station. Learn to take the perfect shot with Shutterbugs then make your idea POP by creating a paper pop-up card. Create the perfect head shot with a mosaic collage self portrait or slow things down with a slow motion booth by Primrose Path Productions. Finally, enjoy giant bubbles, food demos with Mr. Natural Austin and the Sustainable Food Center, ASL storytime, and performances by BlackshearElementary’s Choir and the Austin Community Steelband. Creative Action will also be demoing our Parent/Child Music and Movement class.
  10. Let’s Get Campy
    Sunday, April 29 | from 4 to 6 p.m. | The Art Garage Austin, 11190 Circle Dr.
    Join for an evening at The Art Garage as they prepare for Summer Art Camps. You’ll be able to meet your camp teachers, get a sneak peek of some of your camp projects, make a few fun crafts, and even enter into a drawing for a free art camp! It’s totally free to come and create at this event, so jump on in.

  • Predators of the Park Hike (Lockhart)
    Saturday, April 28 | from 10 to 11 a.m. | Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Rd., Lockhart
    Join a Master Naturalist to explore your local predators, and learn how they survive and thrive as hunters! All ages welcome.  Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring water and apply sunscreen or bug repellent, as needed. No registration required. Meet your guide at the Creekview Trailhead. If driving from park headquarters, take your first left-hand turn, pass the campgrounds, and park along the paved loop. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult and free for children 12 & under).
  • Marvel at the Moon (Lockhart)
    Saturday, April 28 | from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Rd., Lockhart
    Discover the stories and science behind our largest satellite – the Moon! Peer through binoculars and a telescope at the surface of the moon, learn how its craters formed, and hear ancient stories. Meet on the #1 fairway and park along the road and walk to the site along the golf cart path at the bottom of the hill. A few pairs of binoculars may be available, but bring your own if possible.  Please bring flashlights, but try to use them as little as possible near the meeting site.
