A Valentine To Our Favorite Austinite, Matthew McConaughey

Roses are red, violets are blue,

Matthew McConaughey, we love you.

From Just Keep Livin to Project Engage,

Giving back has never been more the rage.

Making sure students ride safe, delivering Meals on Wheels,

And showing love for your mama, it gives us all the feels.

We are dazed, not confused, because you shine so bright.

Since it’s Valentines Day, we just gotta say, “Alright alright alright!”

Never was there an Oscar-winning Austin actor more deserving of our love than Matthew McConaughey. This man does it all.

To refresh your memory, the past six months have been chock full of good deeds from the Gold star.

In September, he gave a rousing pep talk to the Texas Longhorn football team before their game against Notre Dame.

Then, in November, he, along with wife Camila and their kids, delivered Meals on Wheels to Austin families. It’s a tradition that he says started with his mother when he was a child. Speaking of his mama, he told “Good Morning America” that she’s the reason his family resides right here in Austin.

Also in November, the UT alum personally chauffeured students around the Texas campus in support of the Sure Walk program.

And most recently, while promoting his new film Gold, McConaughey paid a visit to Project Engage, a program that assists the youngest offenders in the Austin adult criminal docket. The visit was arranged by attorney Joe Turner, who befriended the actor during his infamous bongo playing incident in 1999.

But that’s not all. McConaughey also has two nonprofit organizations.

Just Keep Livin is dedicated to empowering high school students by providing them with tools to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future.

Mack Jack McConaughey is a joint project with Mack Brown and Jack Ingram committed to maximizing the return to the community, specifically benefiting Austin area organizations dedicated to children’s education, health, and wellness. Their annual fundraising event is happening right here in Austin in April.

We see you Matthew McConaughey. And, boy, do we like what we see.
