The University of Texas at Austin Prevention Research Lab is currently recruiting research participants age 6 to 11 for a project called the Fast Food MEDIA Study.
The purpose of this study is to better understand how fast food advertising on television influences kids’ behavior and choices. Given the increasing rate of childhood obesity in the U.S., the Austin Prevention Research Lab believes it is important to better understand how fast food advertising may influence youth.
This IRB approved study will take place at UT in Bellmont Hall and runs 45 minutes to 1 hour, consisting of showing an age appropriate television show including commercials. The parent will receive $30 for participating in the study and the child will receive $20 for their participation (this is for each child).
